Good question from Uncle Roger. Who the *** did he beat? Name one that is equivalent to a Maidana.

I don't care who you are, you CANNOT compare Broner to Floyd. Even if you think that Floyd cherrypicks, he has cherrypicked enough good to great skilled fighters and proven that his style works on all of them.

Broner's career would have been over right at Jose Louis Castillo, there would be no rematch needed. Yet alone moving up in weight and beating Judah, Baldomir, Delahoya, Hatton, JMM, Mosley, Cotto or Alvarez, all of which were different size, shape and style. He probably would've lost to all of them.

I'll tell you who he beat, he beat himself. He skipped 140 but didn't gain the weight right and he didn't do the required work, ***ual escapades are a negative. He believed the hype to the point where he did everything to get himself beat. This fight might have been different, if Broner had skipped a few twinkies and booty runs. That little bit excess drain may have made a big difference fight night and he might even be able to still make 140 without the distractions..

For everyone saying that there's only one Floyd Mayweather, the question is what dangerous opponent did Floyd face when he was 23-24 yrs old at welterweight??? Answer...NOBODY!! And Broner is 5'6" while Floyd is 5'8"!!!! He's smaller than Floyd and he jumped up 2 weight classes to fight Maidana at 147. Blame poor matchmaking by Team Broner and Golden Boy...but give credit to Broner for moving up and facing an extremely dangerous opponent. In comparison, Broner vs. Maidana at 147 would be like a lightweight Floyd vs. Mayorga or Margarito at 147 back in early 2000s.

And did Floyd ever end up facing Mayorga or Margarito in any weightclass??? Nope.

Yep..I didn't forget that. Still bad managing because Broner looked too small even against Paulie. He wasn't ready for Maidana.

Those opponents that hitking referenced were lightweights. My argument is who did a 23-24 yr old Floyd fight at 147 that was dangerous? We know that answer.

At age 23-24 Broner 150-156
Broner fighting Maidana at 147 who outweighs him by 3-4lbs and is 1/2 an inch taller is not compariable at all to to Floyd fighting Mayorga(1 inch taller) or Margarito(3 inches taller) who would have both outweighed him by around 20lbs.
Referencing guys like Hernandez,Corrales and Castillo is fine because the size difference between those guys and Mayweather is much bigger than Broner-Maidana
The argument "who did a 23-24 yr old Floyd fight at 147 that was dangerous?" becomes irrelevant for the reasons stated above.

TBH the Mayweather camp probably felt insulted when the media played up Broner as 'The Next Mayweather'.

The boxing world is still buzzing over Marcos Maidana’s upset victory over Adrien Broner this past weekend in San Antonio, Tex.

In front of over 11,000 partisans inside of the Alamodome, Maidana fought a spirited and determined fight, as his power had great effect on his younger foe. Knockdowns of Broner were registered in rounds two and eight while several bludgeoning shots were delivered in many of the other frames.

When the dust had settled, Maidana has claimed a unanimous decision victory while Broner was left trying to cope with his first professional setback.

I was no fan of Broner. But, my argument is that Broner did what Floyd never did early in his career and he should get credit for it. At 24, Broner fought in a weightclass he had no business fighting in and faced an incredibly dangerous opponent. Instead he's getting panned for "NOT BEING THE NEXT FLOYD MAYWEATHER". Broner earlier in his career took a bigger RISK fighting Maidana than Floyd did fighting those lightweights. Floyd's first big risk moving up in weight was against Oscar.

I noticed the "1/2 inch" height difference too in the stats. But when I saw Broner and Maidana in the ring, the size difference was surprisingly in favor of Maidana (height and weight). Sorry but in the ring, Maidana did not outweigh Broner by 3 lbs. Broner was closer to 150 and Maidana was 159-160, maybe bigger.
