Comments Thread For: Maidana: Broner is No Mayweather, He Can Be Hit!

With his proposed fight with Adrien Broner a little under 2 months away, Marcos “Chino” Maidana has already been training for 3 weeks in Oxnard with trainer Robert Garcia. Maidana will try to capture his first world title in the Welterweight division and hand Broner his first loss in the process when they face off December 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.

Broner is one of boxing’s fastest rising stars and has already secured three world titles in three different weight classes. He even jumped up two weight classes to capture the same title he will be defending against Maidana when he beat Paulie Malignaggi this past June.

Despite his current accomplishments, Maidana feels Broner still has not fought enough top level competition to prepare for the best fighters. [Click Here To Read More]

Maidanas spot on with everything he said. I still think Broner wins but Maidana might of just sold me on ordering it. When it comes to boxing I can be such a softy lol.

Maidana better not prepare for a stationary, flat footed fighter that will be in the pocket all night.

I expect to see a version of Broner that we haven't seen before. He has fought in the pocket because his opponents have been smaller and unable to hurt him.

You know, that's exactly what he's gonna get and Maidana won't do a thing about it. Not entirely but it's gonna be Broner right in his face for a greater portion of the fight.

+1 Broner has been fighting flat footed for a while now so i don't know If he can do anything else and be effective at this point. I do expect him to move a bit more but not much.. I don't think his footwork or stamina is good enough to move for 12 rds like Floyd can, an we as fans tend to underestimate just how hard that is to do without gassing(ala Alvarado)...

True Broner can be hit...but Maidana WILL be hit. His defense is so bad its hard to think Broner isnt going to win on points. To me the real story of this fight is not the outcome but if Broner can take a real punch.

Broner has never been hit flush which is a testament to his defense. Maidana will hit him and we will find out of Broner has a chin.

This will be one of the most prepared versions of Maidana we have seen in a while. He will be relentless in there, and hard hitting. For all 12 rounds. What makes you think Broner can last 12?

Maidana's defense isn't stellar, but it has improved. He himself reports that he has improved his boxing, defense, and waist movement, and over the last two fights, I would have to agree.

As for this assertion that Broner will be on his toes boxing off the back foot all of a sudden, if he does he will not be playing into his strength. Anyone that trains knows that what you train is what you are. Broner's style is largely stationary, don't expect different. Any attempts to try a different style won't be as adept, and lets not forget Maidana has been working on a jab, straight right that has quite a bit of range, if Broner decides to back up in a straight line.....

Broner has absolutely been hit flush--evebn p4per Gavin Rees got to him--its just been from smaller, weaker fighters. Maidana will be a better test.
