Jr. has made a lot of mistakes: not training enough or doing it a his "place" and own terms, being arrested for DUI few days before a fight, using Cannabis during a camp, missing weight, etc. and he still could be relevant if he is willing to dedicate to boxing like many other fighters do. I am certain that if he would train really hard he probably would KO Sergio Mtz in a rematch since Jr. was able to drop Sergio even with his poor training and Sergio appeared having lost another step against Murray. So, I think that Martinez not only believes that Chavez Jr does not deserve a second chance but also knows that Chavez could hurt him if Jr had an adequate preparation so it would be better to avoid him.

I think Martinez last fight only showed that he needed more rest because of his knee surgery. Chavez Jr is a bum.

He doesn't deserve the rematch. It's not like he could make 160 anyways. He should fight at 168-175 and fight people his own size. Andre Ward got stripped of his Wbc title because they needed to get a bum crappy enough for Jr to beat so they could gift that title to the bum and for Jr to beat him for it. Hopefully Jr gets that title so Ward gives him a boxing lesson worse than the one Floyd gave to Canelo. Because at least Canelo has decent speed, good boxing skills, but most importantly : discipline and respect for the sport. Jr lazy ass pisses me off. if he had conditioned well for the vera fight, he would've done what he was supposed to do : knock him out or at least REALLY win the fight. People talk about how Floyd runs, what about chavez Jr? He looked like frankenstein, all green and exhausted ... smh

BTW, for all the crying that went on with Jr-Vera. Jr weighed in at 172 and Vera weighed in at 171. So I really don't understand people claiming Jr disrespected this or that when his opponent basically weighed the same damn thing.

They need to put their foot down and say I ain't fighting.

Plus, I have seen some decline in Serg. A more confident Jr and deminished version of Martinez makes it a real fight, IMO.
