Thanks for bumping this. It made me remember Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith saying Hagler would be "too slow" for Floyd Mayweather Jr., and I really wanted to remember that.

I think floyd is the best of his generation, and one of the greatest fighters of all time, I just dont think he matches up well at all with those guys...

Hagler too big,,, If hagler was the same size as floyd, i would favor floyd, but since they are not the same size, hagler gets it

hearns never got outboxed ever, he outboxed SRL twice, and prime virgil hill twice,,
I think his jab, range, and stunning power would be too much for floyd,,, I dont think floyd gets ko'd but hearns would win in a fight very similar to him vs benitez

SRL would be really great fight, but SRL is just a winner, period.. No matter opposition SRL always found a way to win,, I actually think it plays out alot like oscar-floyd, but with SRL stealing alot of rounds and the win.. Nobody better at stealing rounds then SRL and that would be the deciding factor

I agree, but i just think that SRL will do whatever it takes to win, and he was the absolute best at stealing rounds, which i think he would vs floyd.. He would flurry and floyd would roll and make him miss alot, but judges would still score the round for SRL

Mayweather is on another level in boxing. What his place is in boxing's mythical ATG list is irrelevant. His accomplishments cannot compare to someone that fought way over a hundred fights and only losing a small percentage. But this is a different level of boxing in terms of preparation, game planning, skills, and dominance.

Not trying to make a big debate out of your post, but honestly SRL had much more hype around his fights, and was much better known that floyd is today..
Also, they had great boxing camps and minds planning strategy long before SRL.....
If SRL and hearns had been on PPV in this era, it would have been record breaking......
Floyd is a huge star no doubt, but so was SRL, he was an olympic gold medalist and face of boxing before he even won a title,, his starpower was huge in his day,, much more starpower than floyd...
Ask some grandmas if they know floyd,,, they wont,, but they know SRL,,

Damn i remember in 07 after Floyd retired, he was on top of the world: Wrestlemania appearance, reebook endorsment, phone commcericals, espn commercials. Everyone knew he was thee best.
Then, when he came back outta retirement, he came back more pissed off and agitated at everyone lmao. Then, he had all those cases, prisonment and supposed ducks.
But ever since he came out of retirement its like hes back on top of the world again, and everyone know how great he is especially after schooling Canelo. A big fighter everyone that would bully floyd.
That Canelo fight was huge for Floyds arguement in being one of the best ever cuz it really showcased how far his level is above the rest...
