Comments Thread For: Canelo: His Punches Not Strong, Very Fast and Accurate

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Former champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs) admits he couldn't find an answer for the fast, elusive style of Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26KOs). Mayweather won a twelve round majority decision. One judge, CJ Ross, scored the bout 114-114, but most at ringside saw Canelo winning one or two rounds at best. Canelo said he was never hurt by Mayweather's punches and they were not that strong, but the shots were very fast, very accurate - and that made them very difficulty to avoid.

mayweather looked like a small welterweight in there with canelo......the size difference was pretty massive.

and the shots canelo was hit with actually snapped his head back pretty badly, no way in hell was he gonna just walk in because he was worried about the heat that was being thrown at him.......

You shoulda pressured him alot more then. But you made alota money and learned from an experience you couldn't pass up because of the amount of money. Molina's belt is a great idea as another learning experience because he's very difficult and doesn't hit hard.

what canelo is saying is something we knew. mayweather is not going to damage you he's just going to outbox you and outpoint you. I have a problem with canelos game plan he went in there trying to outbox Floyd he has the skills just not the experience

            A 165 lb'er saying that a 146 lb'er punches weren't that strong is not hard to believe.

Dude, he has a rematch clause signed with Mayweather Jr.
              He may take it.

And he SHOULD have pressured Mayweather, but the truth is that in the end.. he's not a pressure fighter. Also he looked kinda slim yesterday i think he had a bad condition and he couldnt pull the trigger.

I gained alot of respect for canelo after this. He didnt go with the typical loser comments. He admitted floyd was the better man that night and i feel he will bounce back. He might have just gained another supporter

Exactly! If May's punches weren't that strong he would've had no problem taking one or two to get off his own power punches. He didn't do that because he knew he would get hurt or KO'ed. Nice back handed compliment Canelo.
