4 lbs to a jr featherweight is different than 4lbs to a normal sized man. Part of the reason there are weight classes to begin with.

I could not imagine that Rigo might come up with this superfluous 4lbs / 1.8kg issue... It's childish... If it's money, say it loud...

But with his huge talent he could take the Mares fight at 126... If he's proposed this fight formally and he refuses then something is very wrong with him. Sorry.

And while Rigo probably should take the offer if it is presented to save his career...he shouldn't be berated for not. Unfortunately and quite unjusty he is bearing the weight of irrational fans/media as the scapegoat for a "boring" style.
The man is the champion (the real champion) of his weight class and all he wants to do is defend that. I think we need more of that in the sport. Just because others are misguided doesnt mean he should have to live by their standards.

rigondeaux is the wba and wbo champ at 122 ,who beat mares 17-7 in a final for gold medal in a pan nam games. he has always fought at batan weight , amateurs and pro . why didnt mares ,before running to 126 , offer a fight to rigo as they did to "run for your eye "ducknaire ? why mares didnt want to avenge the defeat he suffered to rigo? mares could have tried to make a unification bout for wbc ,wba and wbo to rigo . but not , he forget about those titles and run to 126 . they offered 3 millions for ducknaire , if they had offered 1 million for rigo , im sure bob arum would have given rigo to them .

besides , rigondeaux made 750 000 $ against ducknaire , and mares made 300 000 some in his last fight . rigondeaux is the champ , beat him already and made more $ in his last fight . rigo walks at 125 or 126 , thas it .mares could have fought him , but chose to leave rigondeaux as the real champ at 122 . if mares would want the fight , he got to come back to superbatam ,if , buit i dont think so . i like mares , though.
