Nonito Donaire vs countless of our fighters. Donnie Nietes vs countless of our fighters including recent victory to earn the Ring ****zine belt at 108 over Moi Fuentes here in Manila. Juan Francisco Estrada avenging Segura and Marquez and defeating 2 more filipinos along the way within the last year and a half or so. Brian Viloria destroying our fighters before being stopped by Estrada. Of course Pacquiao helped fertilise the rivalry but truth be told it is acknowledged here in the PI and in Mexico as well by the media. The Mexican fans and Filipino fans are just as aware of the heated fights we have had and will have with each other in the sport.

Mexicans are the best boxers in the world IMO and Mexico's amateur system is terrible. Nobody gives a **** about amateur boxing in Mexico.

The pro game is so different than the amateur game, I think most fans don't understand that. Of course the amateur game can help you, but it's like comparing preparing for a sprint, or a marathon.

      It's that different.
      No bias whatsoever here.

Much has changed with the sudden rise of defecting Cuban exiles successfully translating to the pros.

It seems the landscape is shifting.

The high quantity/mediocre quality of Mexican fighters might be endangered with the presence of the high quality/low quantity Cuban fighters.

          Your thoughts.
To be fair there is nothing new about this rivalry. There has always been a rivalry. It's great! Cuban fighters are awesome given their olympic pedigree and background.

No disrespect taken. Argentina has always has always had great champs and currently have a strong run. In terms of rivalry as whole I see Cuba v Mexico more of a clash maybe because the drastic difference in fighting style.

Cuba - Rigo, Abril, Lara, Hernandez
Mexico - Santa Cruz, Jhonny Gonzalez, Vazquez, Molina

Could very well be adding Barthelemy to the list soon.

Considering how hard it is for Cubans to turn pro, I'd say not bad.

Although a tall order ahead with Crawford, potentially Gamboa can join the list.

Barthelemy has a better chance than Gamboa. If the Mexicans wanna count the fake Mexican Mikey Garcia then we must count Quillin.

Mexico does have a few more champs at the lower weights. Like Estrada. Even if the majority of people dont follow those lower weights they ARE champs.

So they have like 6 compared to our 4. Not counting Garcia and Quillin.

The lighter weights unfortunately do not get the attention they deserve. But don't worry we got some good shit brewing for you in the coming years.
