The fight is going to happen folks, and on fight night Canelo is going to weigh more than 154, period. Floyd lives and trains at about 147, so he won't enter the ring appreciably bigger or smaller than 152. He's going to have to face Canelo with what he has, so the newest "Mayweather killer" will rehydrate to something a bit heavier.

When we want the smaller guys to fight the bigger guys, surely we should expect some accommodation right?
They're contesting for the lineal/genuine title at 154. How is a a CW OK? I mean, the winner will be The Man at super welter, but there's a doubt whether the guy is willing to face any challengers above 152. Aren't you a historian? Give me some precedents, preferably not shameful like DLH at MW

He couldn't KO Lopez in 3 and he was jumping up two weight classes or Hatton for that matter. Floyd will keep his distance until he can measure Saul like he does most opponents then turn the offense up. If I was Alverez I would try to make Floyd lead. Save his energy to counter Floyd. There is more pressure on Mayweather than Canelo for sure.

You don't have to be at the limit for a title fight. Both fighters can be below it happens more often than we think. It's the label catch weight that gets people going. If Floyd came in at 147 and Saul came in at 153 would you complain that it wasn't at 154?

Dude "152" is a meaningless weight clause in a contract, Canelo is going to come into the ring on fight night far heavier, get it?

But both fighters should be able to come in at 154, especially if you're determining The Man at 154, don't you think?

What I hear in this whole "catch-weight" controversy is that people are shocked Floyd made the fight so they have to find another way to undercut.

Floyd will likely be 150-152 on fight night. Canelo will balloon up to 160-165 on fight night.

Meaningless? So why not 144, what's the difference?

Will the future challengers for the lineal title have to drop down to 152, as long as Floyd is holding the title? That's fine, right, they'll just blow up on fight night

                    Exactly.

Floyd Haters: "Mark my words, Floyd will never fight Canelo Alvarez."

Floyd and Canelo make the fight.

Showtime pressure. Guerrero ppv failed. They weren't going to let him take on someone who didn't really belong in the ring to begin with. They have tons of money riding on him. They want to make some of it back. Remember, his deal is "up to", not guaranteed.
