The scary thing about Matthysse's punches was that some of them were blocked lmao

haha, yeah i would too man. i fell for the ortiz hype. it wasn't like "man, ortiz is going to whoop mayweather", but more like "ortiz is going to be mayweather's toughest fight in recent years". still disappointed it went down like it did. with matthysse, i think i'd actually root for him. matthysse is the man, it's hard not to root for the man.

Exactly how I felt about the Ortiz fight, the youth and athleticism I felt would bring Floyd something he had not seen in a long time. Didn't know Ortiz would crumble mentally like be did, something I'm positive Lucas wouldn't do. Not saying Ortiz was on his way to winning, but I would've liked to see how it would've played out.

Floyd is a little older now, but you're right, he'll probably retire undefeated. I don't hate him like a lot of people do, but at the very least I want him challenged and forced to dig deep. Hey we can dream right?

Matthysse is the most dangerous opponent for Mayweather under 154. Im not saying he would beat him but he is the most dangerous and hardest hitting opponent. I hope Mayweather agrees to fight Matthysse but Matthysse has to destroy Garcia first. And he will destroy him!
I'm not oblivious to Matthysse's punching power, certainly not after tonight, but that ain't nothing Floyd hasn't seen. Of course Matthysse applies his power more intelligently but I'm tellin' you, it's gonna come down to Mayweather's footwork, and I don't see Matthysse coping with it. He may try to get dirty, piss Mayweather off but Floyd is too disciplined for that.

I'm a huge Mayweather fan, but there's no doubti n my mind Lucas is the biggest threat to Floyd, whether he wins or not is the case but he's got a better chance than Canelo or Pacquiao.

yeah, as cocky and arrogant as floyd is, the guy is great. he's the reason i'm into boxing as much as i am right now. but seeing him be an A level fighter while he's surrounded by B and C level fighters, it makes things a little uninteresting. there's got to be guys out there that can eventually challenge him. if not for their skills, then for their age.
ortiz was a major letdown. like you said, matthysse is no mental midget. i really hope haymon and gbp make matthysse/garcia and matthysse comes out on top, hopefully in impressive fashion as well. it'd be a great fight to have if lucas beats danny. in due time, in due time, haha.

My first Floyd fight was watching him dismantle Gatti and being new to boxing, I was just in awe that he was that much better. That's also true that he is A+ fighter in an era with very, very few A's around his weight to match him with.

Definitely glad he chose to sign with Haymon, also increased his chance to get Garcia, mandatory or not, I think Garcia could easily talk himself into getting a Khan rematch and vacating the WBC title. Also would like to see Matthysse maybe fight the Maidana-Lopez or Khan-Alexander winner at WW in maybe January before a Floyd fight in May.

Floyd "Money" Mayweather vs Lucas "The Machine" Matthysse

I wouldn't call it a cherry pick, especially if Matthysse goes on to beat Danny Garcia, then he'd surely deserve a shot at Floyd.

That said, I can't see any other outcome than Mayweather pot shotting Matthysse for 12 rounds and bring home a rather wide UD.

Seem to care enough to make threads and post about him though?

No matter what people think of Mayweather, he's the biggest name in the sport bar none. There's a reason everyone chases a fight with Floyd.

Would love to see Matthysse go and ice Garcia now.

                    Get em Lucas!

Happened in the Judah fight too. He punched right through the guard.
