Most mainstream fans still dont know who Canelo is. Whenever they bring up his name on the ESPN shows about being Floyd's next opponent, none of the commentators are that familiar with him. The live access shows will help but still not as much as a Cotto fight and everyone talking about him & Floyd leading up to May
Yeah, I'm thinking the Matthysee-Peterson winner is the only other option.

I fear that it might be Amir Khan next. I hope not.

I would rather Canelo now to be honest although it would be bigger down the line and I thought it would be but now with all this 147 talk I'm thinking it might not be next.

I'm still just going to wait until it all unfolds though.

I see what you're saying, but it's better for Floyd to make the fight now rather than later. The sooner it happens, the better it will be for Floyd to have enough left in the tank to make it a competitive fight or win. Floyd needs to stop with the roadblocks and make the fight happen in September. The only thing that team Canelo are asking for is for the fight to take place at 154 lbs and Floyd has already fought there before the Guerrero fight.

I never thought it would be next. I always think Floyd & GBP would rather have alot of time to promote big fights. Floyd also has more time to add on weight if he wanted to.

I also never believe everyone talking about Devon Alexander. No way Floyd fights him unless he gets atleast one more big win. He has no chance of being next. I do believe they want the Khan fight but I dont think there is any way he is next "unless" they agree ahead of time to fight Canelo in May. Thats the only way the public would accept it but I dont see that happening.

I actually think Haymon signing Matthysse has some to do with Floyd. If the hype is real and he destroys Peterson, I could see alot of people wanting to see Lucas-Floyd while at the same time they can have the Garcia-Khan rematch

No catchweights. What the hell? He likes his fighters confortable remember, as long as Canelo happens before he retires, it should be fine.

then why not make it next? what's with all this 'Canelo needs to fight so and so first' crap?

in boxing, weird **** happens everytime you try to overhype a 'super fight'...its freekin lame

remember when Zab-Floyd was a super fight when it first got signed? then Baldomir happened

remember when Juanma-Gamboa was supposed to be a 'super fight'? then Salido happened

remember when PAC-Floyd was supposed to be a 'super fight'? then Marquez happened

Actually I never agreed with that. I always thought its a better fight in May. Its not like Canelo has this great resume. Its a much better fight if he beats Cotto in September. He then has back to back wins over Trout & Cotto and his fan base/noteriety is even bigger after beating a popular fighter like Cotto.

Meanwhile Floyd gets 1 more fight with his dad and gets to test it out against a righty while also knocking off the finishing touches of rust from the layoff & jail.

Most of all, its just 4 months between May & September and even less since it will probably take a month or 2 to make the fight but there is 8 months between September & May. Plenty of time to promote & hype the fight. I think its a huge fight now but Massive in May
                how do those nuts taste?

true but alot of things changed when Canelo jumped from 165 to 172 while at the same time Floyd is 148 at the 30 day weigh-in. Canelo is only going to get better which is true but to me and I think to Floyd's team, September seems rushed for such a big fight, risk, and making the jump in weight. I think its more comfortable for them if in May

why does canelos name recognition even matter? isn't Floyd the highest paid athlete with all of this mass appeal? didn't he just fight an unknown Guerrero?
