Good ol' Golden Boy, always giving the fans the fights they want to see like Canelo v Lopez.

not at all..GBP be making bs fights as well...as you mentioned...Lopez-Canelo was garbage...just like Garcia-Judah is garbage...my point was the willingness of GBP to make fights with TR....too many in house fights and thats why most of the fights made are irrelevant or just plain trash

They are both promoters, so in reality their only concern is too maximize profits. Anything to do with sport is secondary. You can have a long list for both companies in terms of bad matchmaking.

At least Arum is a little more upfront about not giving the fans what they want to see (I think he clearly said 'f-ck the fans' a few years ago when defending his poor PPV undercards). But the constant pandering to the fans by GB drives me crazy, in every interview they go on and on about how they care about the fans. What BS. Also, presently GB is not really working with any other promoters at the moment (well I guess they worked with Don King, but the upcoming schedule is all GB fighters).

to be honest they had 2 other fights lined up-pwill got hurt and lopez beat ortiz. The lopez-canelo fight was garbage if your Canelo-but Lopez earned that fight by beating Ortiz. Its nice to see guys get big fights as a rewrad for winning.

Yeah, it was a decent story coming in. But then the fight started and it was clear that Lopez had no business at 154.

niether vic nor lopez had any business fighting canelo at that point. But since the lopez vic fight was setup to get vic a win going into a canelo fight-I thought it was right that Lopez got the fight and the payday since he won.

Ortiz is a big guy with punching power, and aside from being a headcase, he could have some success there. Lopez looked fat.

Credit to Canelo and GB for the Trout fight, I didn't think they would make it.

Golden Boy has the larger stable of fighters at the moment but I wonder why nobody has stopped to ask how that came to be so.

A large part of that, and the way GBP marketed themselves to young fighters and future stars, was the HBO output deal and the ability to guarantee these guys the big fights on the biggest network.

Top Rank not only has HBO now, but they are also much more adept at running their own shows and getting their fighters TV exposure when there are no major network slots available.

How many of these guys in the huge GBO stable is there room for on Showtime? There are only so many dates to go around.

Over the next 2-3 years I expect you will see a lot of GBP fighters growing impatient with their lack of Showtime dates and the long waits in between fights as they wait in line for a date.

Top Rank meanwhile will be able to keep all their top fighters as active as they want to be and in competitive fights that HBO and the fans will eat up.

I expect we will start seeing defections from GBP to TR and other promoters who are not boxed in with a network. The fallout from this change in business philosophy won't be fully felt for a couple years so you can't really start jumping to conclusions now but I just don't see how this works out better for GBP than it does for TR.

I think you're right on everything. SHO doesn't have a budget big enough for all of GBP's expensive stable, much less to give them room to grow.
