Legacies and drawing power aren't built off of average B-level contenders. Implying that Broner's "ducking" a division filled with B-level fighters to fight in a higher weightclass filled with ATG's has to rank up there as one of the more incredibly ******ed points of view that you'll find on a boxing message board. About as equally ******ed as if someone were to assert that Mosley moved up to Welterweight back in the early 2000's (where the biggest draw in the sport was present) as apart of a super secret plan to duck Tszyu, Judah & Mitchell.
problem is he won't be fighting any of those 3 atg's.

Paulie is a good/ok name on anyone's resume. Especially with a belt around his waist.

And capturing that trinket would certainly put him better position for a showdown with a big name fighter, wouldn't you say?
There's no big name fighter at 147 but Floyd and they won't fight. If he wants to call himself the best and become a draw he has to fight the best.

That means fight Abril, Vazquez/Burns winner and the 140 lb division. Not skip the hottest division in boxing to beat a guy at the end of his career.

Matthysse has his own fight coming up. What does he have to do with Broner?

He wasn't gonna fight Rios and Garcia anyway. One is with Top Rank and the other is with Al Haymon.

He'll go to 147 and beat Malinaggi, then go to 154 and beat like the 40 year old shell of Cotto and the Floyd/Broner fans will proclaim him ATG

You gotta be a goddamn fool if you think Broner or any up & coming young fighter would deny a fight offer from Floyd, Marquez or Pacquiao if the olive branch was extended.

And yes, Floyd IS a viable option despite the butt-buddy status they currently share. There are alot of close friends and associates that have met in the ring despite being close with one another outside of it. Some guys even grew up with eachother and still fought eachother.

De La Hoya, Shane, Vargas, Mayweather & Judah all knew eachother since they were in thier preteens. And just about all of them still fought eachother. The same will happen with Floyd-Broner if Broner continues on his current course with no major slip-ups, i'm about 98% certain that fight will eventually happen as Broner's celebrity continiues to grow as well as a demand for a fight. The Floyd vs Broner chatter has already started on ESPN. That's a financial oppurtunity that's going to be too tempting to pass up if the demand grows large enough and an easy fight to make given their promotional situation.

Last time i checked, Pacquiao was still active, as is JMM. And see above on the subject of Floyd-Broner. Broner vs any of these 3 or even Tim Bradley completely and utterly SHITS over anybody he can fight @ 140.

And if you think these fights have no shot of happening... just about a year & a half ago fights like Bradley-Pacquiao & Floyd-Guerrero were considered a pipe dream.

And who's to say if Pacquiao decides to return and can't secure Pac-JMM vol.5 that he won't come looking for a trinket? (assuming Broner would be able to snatch it off Malinaggi) The best course of action for Broner is to put himself in the best position for fights like this. These are the important fights, the LEGACY fights so to speak. Not a buncha fights with a group of flash in the pan contenders who in all likelihood nobody will remember in 20-30 years outside of the most hardcorest of the hardcore boxing fans which comprise approximately 0.0007% of all boxing fans.

If he wants to call himself the best and become a draw he has to fight the best.
And the best would be located @ 147.

3 ATGs currently active in the division.

Half of the current top 10 p4p fight @ Welterweight.

Is this even a question? Who wouldn't want to be in that division?

Ok so Lucas is probably going to fight Peterson and Garcias and Judah are going at it Kahn is fighting in UK and Rios and Alvarado are getting on and are top rank so right now in the near future their is not a good opponent or even yet better opponent for Broner then Paulie from 135 to 147, Abril ain't a better name, burn/Vasquez is prostpone, Gamboa got a ped issue Maidana got Lopez, Ortiz needs a tune up, Bradley, Pacman, Marquez= top rank so no go, Mayweather and guerrero are schedule, so what better name to start a ppv for a title then Paulie I mean Broner is looking to do a ppv fight and out of everyone from 135 to 147 only Paulie is available that is a known name, also Alexander and Brook are also schedule too. so what if Broner goes to 147 gets a ppv fight and a tittle and then go down to 140 and fight for a title when after when a name opponent is available to fight and not schedule to already? Did I miss something?

nope Broner will be at 135 for 2.5 more years and in that time, all the top 140 would have moved up or lost a step already.

Where was the outcry for those guys to move up? Young Broners on 23. Let the man develope. Hes still got 10 years of high level boxing left in his carreer.
                      This^^^^^^^^^^^

And the thing is I would love for those fights to happen at 140 and I would also like to see somebody shut this kid up, but the hate he gets is ridiculous.
