the guy is doing right, he wants people talking about him, doesn't matter if is good or bad...
it doesn't matter if rees outwitted him with the trash talk, that won't work in the ring, just remember mayorga and de la hoya.
Mayorga embarrassed oscar on the trash talk, only to get koed later in the ring, but oh boy wasn't that hilarious:
"YO SOY EL CAMPEON MARICON DE MIERDA, TU NO ERES NADIE"

Mayweather doesn't have the female audience Oscar had nor does he have a "fan-friendly" style like he did either.
Let's not forget he tried to go down that route being the "Good guy" and it wasn't working, frankly.
Mayweather's key to success is the fact that everyone wants to see him lose because they can't stand his arrogance. Add in the fact that he has this unbeatable persona where one of the main questions in Boxing is "Who can beat Mayweather?". He needed to be a villianous character for it to work.
If or when Mayweather loses, he loses all of his marketability at the exact same time.

Maybe, maybe not, we will never know because the real Mayweather surfaced and his little fits on espn showed his true colors.

The Broner Brigade in for the rescue.
Didn't know his fan base had swelled so much since last time I checked.
