Canelo is 15 years younger than Martinez and is not offering a catchweight.

It is not completely ridiculous whereas saying Floyd should fight Wlad is.
sergio offered pacquiao a catchweight not floyd and if im not mistaken pacquiao was actually the one that brought up the catchweight but sergio or his team did not offer floyd a fight at 150 catchweight.
what happened about sergio being to big for jmw?what happened to all those people that were crying about sergio not moving up to smw to fight ward?so depending on the context of the conversation sergio is either to big or small enough depending on peoples agenda

i think floyd could beat martinez. difficult fight obviously, but those are the sort of fights that add to your legacy imo.

I don't think Canelo does much at all for Floyds legacy but if he bounced back and got a few decent wins under his belt that could help boost it somewhat.
IMO I'm a Floyd fan but hes only got himself to blame with taking vacations and stuff.

I really don't like the idea of a fight with Sergio, its intriguing but I think its a fight where Floyd could get seriously hurt in.
He'd have close 20lbs on Floyd on fight night.

Canelo is slow footed, no jab, hasn't fought anyone & I'd really fancy Floyds chances. Sergio is a completely different animal.

Canelo needs to test himself at least once before jumping in with Mayweather, try fighting maybe Lara or Trout! But he won't do that, it will likely be Angulo...I respect Cotto to much to see that man become a ***in stepping stone for some young overhyped dude trying to make a name for himself off of Cotto by catching him after he been in 2 Tough Fights Back To Back against Mayweather and Trout

Canelo really should be fighting Trout or Lara...or hell fight Keith Thurman if you want someone with an exciting style...but he won't, it will likely be Angulo or Cotto because neither looked all that great in their last fights
          ^^^^^great post

Earned it by beating Aydin, who was the #1 WBC Contender going into that fight, so he fought his way to become Mayweather's Mandatory for his WBC Weltweight Belt! So yes he EARNED IT while Canelo just been playing it safe while Mayweather was away

This probably would have been Mayweather vs Amir Khan if Khan was able to live up to the HYPE but he FAILED!

Ehh...not excited at all. I understand Guerrero is more "deserving" than Canelo but this isn't a PPV fight IMO and I would rather Floyd remain at 154, take on Canelo and then tackle Martinez in a farewell bout.

Sergio would do some serious harm to Floyd, as great as he is.

Sergio could not get back down to 154, he is a legitimate middleweight where as Floyd isn't the biggest of welterweights.
Canelo fought Lopez at 167 on fight night. Sergio typically weighs 165-167 on fight night.

I actually think Sergio could make it back down to 154. It may be difficult, but the guy stays in great shape and does not look emaciated at all (the opposite of someone like Chavez) when he weighs in at 159 for his MW fights. A catchweight of 152 or 150 would be extremely difficult, but Martinez has said he would take 6 months off to try to lose the weight in as healthy as manner as possible.

you have to take risks to be the best. he could get seriously hurt in any fight strictly speaking. im just of the opinion that any other fight except martinez is just a fight to get money.

He just got $12million for Mayweather, and probably $3-5Million for Trout. It's gonna take more than 1Mill+ to get him back so soon. He needs a vacation, he just fought 2 fights 5 months apart. He will not fight yet again just 5 months after. If we're talking about Canelo vs Cotto as a HBO main event PPV, yeah of course he'd come back, that'll be a lot of money for both fighters. The PPV would do pretty good numbers, maybe 500k+.

Ask yourself when was the last time Cotto fought on an undercard BTW?
