Marciano got knocked down by a 175 pound fighter, but he only weighed 180 himself. You say Holmes was unbeatable, yea in the early 80's. sissy boy Michael Spinks beat him twice before it took a PRIME tyson 4 rounds to knock him out. and it took him about 25 punches to do it. Like Larry Merchant said after the fight, "Tyson looked like a bull in an antique shop, and he just took out the old grandfather clock."

        True that.
Getting knocked down doesn't mean **** if you get back up and knock the guy out.

Are you sure about Holmes losing to Spinks? I don't remember it, and I'd find it hard to believe. It may have but for now I doubt. Does anybody else know for sure?

                LOL !!!!

It's funny how people talk about Tyson KNOCKING out Joe Louis, Ali, Frazier, Marciano, etc but Tillis exposed his ass...

PS. Who the **** is Tillis? Nobody special...I'm sure Ali, Louis, Frazier, Marciano would all KO him in 3..

As far as i know, at least one of those decisions was controversial, but yes he did lose.

he was a reasonably slick HW in the 70s and 80s.

he took tyson the distance cuz he had a pretty good chin, tight defense, fast hands and feet, and sound skills. tyson won that fight, no doubt. and yes, tyson did KD tillis in the 4th (i think it was the 4th), but he never put tillis in any major KO trouble.

Don't forget to point out that Tillis was past his best by the time of the Tyson fight, and had lost four of five going into it (with his only win via decision against somebody I never, ever heard of before). Angelo Dundee would agree with that, as well, because in his own words Tillis "unfortuntely lost his appetite for the fight game" after losing to Mike Weaver some five years earlier.

And judging by your "Tyson won the fight, no doubt" comment, I'm guessing that I had the fight closer than you did, as my final card was either 95-94 or 96-94 for Tyson, but I can't remember for sure...I think I scored one round even, though, so 96-94 is probably more likely. Tyson got the best of it over the first half of the fight, including knocking an off-balance Tillis down near the end of the fourth round with a left hook (Tillis wasn't hurt from it, though). But I thought Tillis came on strong during the last half of the fight and won majority of those rounds to make a very close fight of it.
