He definitely should have tried to lose the weight as a competitor. As a "star attraction" well, thats another discussion. Ultimately he is hurting his image with both boxing and casual fans.
However, I think at this early stage of his career he should be letting his boxing do the promoting for him. The big guns in the sport over the last 10 or so years have all made themselves stars in the sport through their boxing first. Even his idol Floyd, he was the P4P fighter in the world before becoming a big talker.
We'll see what happens though.
