There were a lot of things that made the Ortiz-Lopez fight intriguing going in for those familiar with Lopez as I know u were. Your are right about Ortiz fight night weight and how it might translate to a Canelo fight...but Victor had been hurt down at 140, and I didn't think Lopez would be too badly outgunned at 147 because of his frame/length. On top of that, it was somewhat of a regional matchup and those are always rough...and Victor is a headcase. None of those elements exists in a Canelo-Lopez fight, and now he is coming off a war.
I guess it really doesn't matter at this point, because the alternative seems to be Mayorga....considering Shane was his last fight, I think Mayorga adds more to his bottom line by simply having that name on his resume while testing his chin against at bigger framed guy who will gas out. Might as well snatch up that name value while Ricardo is still around........i'm not advocating for either fight, just arguing the logic of it all
