When did you see Lara having hard time with PW? The one that did have a hard time was Martinez in his first fight, didn't he? And again I'm not saying that Lara will mop the floor with Martinez or viceversa, I just think it will be a very good fight regardless of the outcome...

Lara didn't have a hard time with Williams. I just misconstrued what the other poster said. Lara got robbed no question. I would love for the fight to happen.

My bad then, I prefer Lara vs any 154 champ and Martinez vs chavez jr, just to shut some mothe***k up...

This fight holds more significance at 154 imo because of Lara's standing. Martinez seems to only have one fight of interest at 160 and I think he's planning on moving back down after. Unfortunately, this fight doesn't make sense for Sergio at 160 (maybe not even at 154 considering his plans...and Lara isn't gunna win him many more fans regardless of how good Lara is). This is a good fight for Lara in that he stands everything to gain, while Sergio becomes even more stagnant.

And yeah, the Lara - Williams fight was not close...Lara tooled him.

Personally, I love Lara but don't think he can beat Sergio at either weight..but I do think he's game and a live opponent and it's definitely not an impossible win. I'd lean to maybe 70-30 ish for Sergio.

My bad, 2 inches, huge difference.

Isn't Martinez 5'10? I could swear he was shorter than Marg who's like...5'11 ish right? I guess this is one of those things where it just depends who you ask...kinda like B ball players who aren't really 6'10...lol

on shobox, they had lara at 5'10 1/2 i think. either way, i think he's like 5'9 and martinez 5'10 or so. they're not that different in height, but i think martinez is a little heavier, i mean he is fighting a division above.
anyways, i said in another thread already that i wouldn't want to see this fight happen right now, even though i'm a big fan of both fighters. lara would need a win over a top MW for him to fight martinez. the fact that dibella says golovkin and pirog can't happen right now cause they don't bring anything to the table, well neither does lara. i guess you can say he's been on american television more and has been talked about more. but martinez should really focus on collecting the belts at MW before his age starts to show. it's just sad to see no one really stepping up to the plate to challenge lara at 154, where's martirosyan when he wants to be heard?
i already said a fight between peter quillin and erislandy lara at MW would be great, it can be on HBO, perhaps on a martinez card. that sets up a fight with martinez perfectly, but knowing how things work in this sport, it probably won't happen.

Vanes was gonna fight K-9 but K-9 signed the fight with Spinks so now Vanes is opened BUT he's with Top Rank while Lara's with GBP so you know how that goes.

As far as Quillin goes, on the other thread he said he wouldn't fight another Cuban.

Box Rec has Lara at 5'9" while Martinez is at 5'11".

                      who said that?

and haha, they had pacquiao at 5'6, then 5'5 1/2, and now i think 5'6 1/2. same with donaire, they switched him up one time i think.
point is there's not much of a height difference between them. and williams does not fight like a 6'1 fighter either, so it's not that big of a deal. quintana is 5'9 1/2.
