To be candidate for GOAT you have to have done things that havent been done before.
Pac is candidate for being the GOAT, thats as diplomatic as you can be.
Wasn't BHop promoting himself back then (at least around 2000/2001) and he got blackballed by the promotional companies so he couldn't get really any of the good fights. They used to say "hes too boring" "he doesn't draw a crowd" and plenty of other excuses to not try to fight him. BHop is so damn tricky and dirty he is a tough out for anyone in history. That being said though, yeah his and RJJ's resumes both could have been a bit better.
RJJ's resume is completely different than BHOP's.
After beating BHOP in his prime, RJJ moved up to fight the P4P#1 fighter in the world, James "Lights Out" Toney.
Then RJJ went up and unified the LHW division.
Then RJJ went up to HW and captured a HW title against John Ruiz ... the first time a MW had gone up and become a HW champion in 100 years.
RJJ was dominate his entire career until his ego had him cut 26lbs of muscle in 6 weeks .. an idiotic thing to do considering he spent over a million acquiring his HW form. Even then he won the match with Tarver despite not being himself, but his ego had reached a level where he felt the need to rematch.
He was never the same. Journeyman had their way with him passed that point.
It was only then that BHOP and Calzaghe would face him.
There is absolutely no comparison. And to say that RJJ should have done more is ridiculous.
No one in history has done what RJJ did in his career.
Few were ever as dominant.
Between beating the #1P4P, unifying a division and going from MW to HW to win a title, RJJ was an elite legend. He's the only fighter ever really considered to threaten Sugar Ray Robinson's spot as the greatest ever.
Its a shame that he didn't retire after his HW win. That said, nothing RJJ does now diminishes who he was when he was on top. The world knows that RJJ should have hung it up after the HW fight. That's no opinion.
BHOP didn't take chances for the first 12 years of his career. Don't lump the two of them together. RJJ's beat Hopkins and moved on, while Hopkins stayed where he was competing for the belt RJJ vacated, finally won it after getting a draw and defended that one belt for 5 years.
Its hardly the same thing. Hopkins could stay active for another 5 years and still wouldn't accomplish what RJJ did during his prime.
Roy Jones would have beat Joe Calzaghe's a$$ in the late 90's, when both were absolute prime. It's too bad that Joe didn't feel like moving up to fight him until he was way way way past it and coming off big losses.
I got Ray in the Top 10 easily, maybe even 2-5, I'd have to really break it down. He beat Benitez, Duran, Hearns, and Hagler, 4 ATG's. Not many people can say that. That's right up there with Ali beating Liston, Frazier, Foreman, and Patterson, 3 ATG's and another great HW.
I agree about them all being Top 50 no doubt and close to that mark. I got Mayweather and Pacquiao right at 30, and Roy around 40. Hopkins is the highest to me, around 20-25 if I had to put him somewhere.

Wow. Roy Jones threatened Sugar Ray Robinson's spot? Another delirious guy. With what huge wins? Toney and a green Hopkins? Tarver had his # period, styles make fights, Roy Jones is not top 40.
Leonards wins: Ranzany, Benitez, Duran, Kalule, Hearns, Hagler, and Lalonde.
7 titles in 5 weight classes. 4 ATG's on his resume in Benitez, Duran, Heanrs, and Hagler. Came back to fight Hagler after 3 years off, jumping from WW to MW, and beat perhaps the best fighter in the sport at the time.
Leonard is easily Top 10, maybe Top 5.
I agree about Robinson, he's easily at least 1-2 GOAT.

Leonard lost to Hagler, despite the corruption, and he ducked Pryor like the plague because he would have gotten smashed. He greatly blemished his career with his decisions towards the end of it. He is 12-20 range.
