I can't see any way possible that Toney beats either Klitschko. Especially not by knockout. The guy is too small and not strong enough.

Toney's size makes him an underdog no doubt,
But Vitali has quit on his stool in the past agaisnt a softer hitting equally elusive fighter with less chin,
and Wlad has run out of gas agaisnt several lesser fighters.
I don't think anyone would have thought Wlad would lose to Purity, Sanders, or Brewster either.
I wouldn't lay any money on JT, but I wouldn't write off such a great fighter either.

...The difference with Toney, and Wlad's opponents that he had problems with, is the pressure and the punch. Toney is not a high pressure guy to wear Wlad out and he doesn't have the punch to bother him either. He is a pure boxer and we saw what Wlad did to another pure boxing light hitter in Chris Byrd. You make a point about Toney's elusiveness miraculously causing Vit to throw out his shoulder though. I guess anything is possible and Vital did have problems with a similar fighter regardless of the circumstances.

Purity isn't a big pressure fighter, nor is he a big puncher. Wlad was worn out late in the fight, and Toney's best rounds are 10 - 12. Wlad was gassed in the Brewster fight, and only looked as active as he did late in the Peter fight because Peter was just as tired, if not more so.
The size is the only X factor. How does Toney deal with a guy that big.
Otherwise, as per usual, you're just looking at it with your rose colored glasses on.

Toney may not have a real huge punch but he is accurate enough to stop Wlad...when he lands he lands on the button.
I am very interested to see how Toney would fight both brothers...would he be able to counter from a serious distance or can he find a way to get it done a different way...
I already hold James Toney the fighter in about as high a regard as I possibly can...if he was somehow able to capture the undisputed HW championship of the world...I just would not no what to say about the man.
Beating VK and even Wlad are tall tall orders...but is there a more confident HW in the world?

...Purity is more of a pressure fighter than Toney IMO, and I think Wlad's offensive skills are as much of an X factor as his size. Toney is one skilled guy and it would be interesting to see regardless of the outcome. If Toney won that fight clean I would give him all the respect in the world. I just don't see it happening. I suppose I could be wrong, but I would sure like to find out.

He was averaging 70 punches thown a round in his last fight. Did you see him fight Jirov?
Toney's activity level makes him a pressure fighter.
It just remains to be seen if he can do that in the face of Wlad's size and power.

Freddy Roach seems absoutly convinced Toney will beat Vitali.
And your right about Toney's confidence level, he seems to speak about Vitali as though he's no threat whatsoever. He's constantly talking about how 'Frakenstein won't lay a glove on him".
I don't know how smart that over confidence is, but hearing Roach being so convinced of Toney's chances in that fight makes me believe Toney's style may trouble Vitali.
I think Wlad is the tougher fight for Toney of the two because of his size power and speed. But, if Toney doesn't go anywhere, Wlad could be in trouble in the Championship rounds. I could honestly see Toney scoring a stoppage with a shot like he hit Nunn with late in the fight. All it takes is a shot on the button, not necessairly a freight train KO shot.

...Pressure in numbers in returning fire and countering mainly. He is not going to stalk Wlad and chase him around the ring throwing big punches and wearing Wlad down with that sort of pressure. Jirov took the fight to Toney and Toney had to fight back in order to land and stave him off. He had absolutely no choice in that fight. Wlad would be more cautious with his output as he has had problems with his stamina in the past. Toney would have problems reaching Wlad and Wlad would probably get a decision win or a KO if he caught Toney with a big punch.
