Ortiz has been dreaming of this fight since he was a kid. Mayweather will return from a 16-month layoff. Good for you Vic. Floyd is gonna be running his mouth and talking mad ****, so you may as well start it off. I like the confidence and if he brings the same determination as he did in the Berto fight this could be really good.
This fight is gonna be a lot more competitive than people think. Ortiz is not gonna get shut out or dominated. I think this fight is gonna be a lot better than people think.

i think with ortiz forcing the fight and apply pressure all nite, i give him a chance to beat mayweather...just as castillo did in castillo/mayweather 1...we know castillo out power punched mayweather 2 to one but got ripped off of a win in their first meeting

hatton did better against mayweather than did marquez or mosley...i see ortiz doing better than hatton. i think ortiz has more determination and will as a welterweight, and more powerful in his current weight class....i believe ortiz has a chance of pulling an upset by KO, if mayweather win, it will be by either unanimous or split...i like ortiz's chance.

The factors that will decide the outcome of this fight are 1. Can Ortiz fight effectively against a boxer? His fight with Lamont Peterson suggests that he can't. How much of what we saw down the stretch of that fight had to do with Ortiz's safety first approach or Peterson making the right adjustments is up for debate. Ortiz getting outworked in that fight also could've been the result of frustration of Peterson surviving and then rallying. 2. How much will the inactivity affect Floyd? If he is still capable of putting on the type of clinic he did against Mosley and Marquez then he's a pretty safe pick to win. However, the first few rounds could be very dangerous, as they were against Mosley until Floyd is able to shed off the rust and find a rhythm.

Some keys to victory for Ortiz:
1) He has to come in with the same tenacity, heart, and work rate as he did in the berto fight, and he has to exude energy and be on his toes and fight quickly throughout all 12 rounds.
2) He has to go to the body more than he did in the Berto fight, and he has to throw aggressively in the clinch. I think this is a big thing after rewatching castillo-mayweather.
3) Do what he did in the Berto fight when clinched, and that is, move your head and go berserk inside the clinch and hit floyd with his head to deter floyd from clinching.
4) a lot lot lot of head movement, and put power in his body punches early.Last edited by WombBat; 06-09-2011, 02:32 AM.
