There's no need for mainstream. Berto-Ortiz had 1.5 Million viewers, Canelo-Hatton had over 1 million viewers as well, Donaire-Montiel had over 1 million viewers. Boxing is alive, just have to put the right fights out there for people to see, and they will watch it.

Americans (white and black) don't watch boxing. Yes, there are exceptions. But it is generally true.

The boxing following comes from America's melting pot feature. Mexican-Americans, Puerto Rican-Americas, Filipino-Americans, and even Eastern Euro Americans that are properly promoted (Marketed Vanes towards Armenian fans, Adamek and Wolak towards Polish fans) have followings in America.

If you're white or black, the only way you get a following is if you have a Tyson or Mayweather-esque personality.

I mean just damn, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones are two elite American athletes that had ATG careers. Their careers barely registered in sporting culture.

These are guys, Hopkins and Jones, that would be looked upon as general cultural icons in countries like Germany, England, Russia.

So much for catching the everyday man.The series was boring as hell. Its ok when you have numerous fights as in the super 6 but with only two fighters fightcamp does'nt come close to 24 7

Nope, no NBA playoffs, no football draft(unless you were watching day 3 of the nfl draft), no big boxing fights nothing. Nascar was on and UFC 129 was on ppv.

Listen, they haven't done much to build this fight at all. It's less than a week away and I doubt they'll do much better with their next episode. They dropped the ball since episode 1 and I really don't think the "casual fans" they were targetting care too much for this fight. It's easy to hide the last 2 fights from Mosley during the 360, but it isn't difficult to wiki or youtube his latest performances at all. People understand what's going on, even if it's a casual fan or not

You are right. Most White Americans don't support American boxers, and most African Americans aren't interested in boxing.

With Hopkins personality though, you would think he'd be a PPV star. People like trash talking and getting hyped for fights, Hopkins gives this to the fans, and still can't get big PPV numbers and barely even gets on PPV.

this is true because mosley isn't a huge ppv star.
