If Cotto couldn't keep Margarito off him after constantly connecting, how can floyd?

1000? I will go lower. Once a counterpuncher finds the pace and distance and starts to connect with decent pop, the number thrown by the opponent will probably be much lowered.

Accuracy has to do with landing punches, precision has to do with being in the proper position to be effective for what you are trying to do. Combination punching is not the key to offense, and Floyd's 1-2 or lead right followed by left hook are both quality combinations, if you land the first two you throw you don't need to come back with 3-4 and risk taking stuff back~ what is better a two punch combo where both land and you don't get hit back or a four punch combo where you land 1 or 2 and take a hard punch or two back~

Floyd Throws like 45-50 punches a round on average, and if forced to throw which Margarito might do Floyd would probably throw more until he no longer had to. He lands close to 45%, people land less than 20% against him on average. Do the math and on top of that Margarito would be landing the lesser quality blows while Floyd would all be very clean and clear.

It would look a lot like calderon-segura. Floyd hitting marg at will but doesn`t have the fire power to keep margarito off him. Now I know Floyd has a better punch than calderon but I for sure as hell doubt that his best punch hurts tony.

Margarito would laugh at everything floyd throws at him.

I was picking a round number to make it easy and he is making a case based on Margarito's activity which is good so I was giving Margarito the benefit of the doubt.

Since the fight would obviously last twelve I could see Margarito getting close, but he would probably land less than 16% because he would just be throwing wild shit to get that sort of output.

Cuz the reason is Shane tried to box with Floyd? Shane is power puncher he couldn't hit Floyd after say 4th rd conservatively and ran out of gas (to some extent due to his age). And you are presuming that Margarito has that supposedly Marvelous power (didn't the guy cheated before as I recall?) What is his REAL power?

Probably more effective. Baldo definitely would have caught Cotto with some shots. As a matter of fact show me the fighter that didnt catch Cotto with hard shots and then you have a case. Margarito has always gotten touched up win or lose. He follows fighters thats why Cotto hit him with flush shots. One thing about Margarito is if you hit him with one then chances are you can hit him with two in the same sequence. Its a big difference between cutting the ring and following a guy.

Exactly. Many base on Margarito's power prior to the hand wrapping scandal. What is HIS real power? Is he weak? NO but is he actually of the power when he faced Cotto? And what makes anyone think Margarito's power in the Cotto fight would be transferrable to the current situation?

The boxing style of Margarito will give floyd a lot of trouble.

I am not saying Margarito has the better boxing skills than floyd, because all he has in his arsenal is his heart and unceasing onslaught style. But those are the only things he need to give floyd the pits.

Margarito does not respect anyone's punches and he will not respect floyd's. In spite of being battered by Pac in every round, he kept coming and it nearly paid off in the 6th round. He didn't let up until the end of the bout.

He knows floyd can't hurt him so will keep the pressure on for the entire fight. He will throw those uppercuts and hooks with machine like frequency. In my opinion, this style is going to overwhelm floyd.

Floyd got the better of Mosley and props to him for that performance. The difference however, between Mosley and Margarito is huge when it comes to pressure boxing. Mosley surprisingly didn't go for the kill or didn't keep the pressure on after that huge right hook he landed on floyd. He actually became a lame fighter after that fateful 2nd round. Margarito won't do such thing.

It is so easy to say floyd will fight in the center of the ring. That he will frequently turn Margarito, that he will skillfully counter-punch to make Margarito think before he throws his punches. Nevertheless, even with all the turning and counterpunching, Margarito will keep on throwing and he will connect. When he connects, you better believe it, unlike Mosley, he will follow it up with more punches. His workrate increases dramatically everytime he connects.

Hatton is also a pressure fighter and yet got KOed by floyd. Remember however, that Hatton gave floyd problems during the early rounds. 6th round onwards, Hatton can't keep up the pressure anymore when floyd had him figured out. Besides he can't hurt floyd with his punches. Margarito will be different and will keep the pressure even if figured out because that is his style. He will be able to hurt floyd because he is a big welterweight.

In my opinion, Margarito's style will give floyd a lot of trouble.

The same way he keeps all his opponents off him , with great boxing ability , great defense and sharp precise offense.

Floyd will make Margarito look like a bum. But he doesnt have the balls to face him so..
