Cotto is quality and Martinez will struggle with him.
Williams is an open lanky fighter, but usually has great output.
Pavlik is done.
Only issue for Cotto is height perhaps. Hoever he faced Yuri Foreman, and speed? Well he's dealt with speed. Movement? Maybe an issue, but let's see it baby.Comment

That's because he lets Arum run his career. Mayorga has a puncher's chance against Cotto, but that's about it the way most people look at it. I personally give him a late fight chance too if Cotto ends up gassing, but that's not really the point. The point is, there were better fighters than Mayorga available for Cotto to fight and some of Cotto's fans (I'm not saying you in particular) expect Mayorga and Yuri Foreman to be a measuring stick for how he will do against guys like Martinez, Kirkland once he knocks off the rust, Angulo when he gets his immigration deal cleaned up (which Arum running his mouth on that was in a lot of ways Cotto's strategy for ducking him), Dzinziruk, and even Berto.Originally posted by PRking718 View Post

Let's get a couple of things out of the way so people don't misinterpret my opinion because everyone knows I am a Cotto fan.
Does Sergio beat Cotto? Yeah, prolly.
Does Margarito beat Cotto? Yeah, maybe.
That said, some you can't have it both ways. Either you think Cotto is ready to take on the top 154 Lbers. Or he is shot. If you claim up an down these forums that the brother is damaged goods then why in the world would he step up an take those fights? So the haters can see him take a bloody beating and scream "I told you so" all over the place? On the other hand if he is healthy and ready to really make the jump give him a god damn break. He is a natural Welter who is coming off a brutal schedule of fights and shoulder surgery to boot. Can the guy get a couple of rounds under his belt post operation before he tackles the monsters of the division? Jeez. It's not like he's claiming to be the P4P champ and cherry picking or conveniently vacationing or ducking the linear champs. Dude has never claimed to be the best. Us fans might put him on that pedestal he never did.
Common sense tells you lately he has been wars, some won and some lost. Dude stepped up to 154 because there is no money at 147 and the only bankable fighter at 147 is Pac, he's been there, he's done that....even though that ****er made him go down to 145 for the payday. But I digress. His 1st fight at light middle was Yuri Foreman, arguably the weakest of the champs in the division-granted. But you same skeptics were all over this forum and YouTube claiming Yuri is too big, too fast, no way can Cotto win. Cotto outboxed the supposed "better" boxer. Yeah he tore his knee but you all act like he was whooping Cotto "Manny style" when he got hurt. Yuri won 1 round to that point and Cotto was timing Yuri to the point that the body shot had the man cringing.
So now, if you all think he is shot, beat a paper champ, who fought with a lame knee, and that Cotto is simply too small for any 154 fighter..... And let's just for arguments sake say you are right...then why the **** would he take on the Big boys right now? Don't you think that a veteran, who is bigger, albeit past his prime too who swings for the fences every minute of every round, with obvious flaws, is an excellent test to see if Cotto has what it takes to fight other bigger men in this division? And he is coming off of a surgery too?
Either you all think he is done or an over-rated bum in which case he SHOULD be fighting a fellow bum in Mayorga. Or give him his props for being a stud and fighting bums beneath him.
