that's pretty much it. Two prime, HOF'ers coming off wins that were badasses, oh yeah, and he fought them at THEIR weight.

OK, firstly..... let's scratch JMM from your list.

Marquez won the second fight, the entire developed world saw it.

One thing though..... that fight was at 130, and Marquez is a career-featherweight, so it was not JMM's best weight.

Manny could not clearly beat a past-prime Marquez, who was fighting outside his best weight.

Barrera was 33yo, he was NOT at his best weight, he was 30yo before he moved up to JLW, and he was coming off a loss at the hands of Marquez.

If you are referring to the first fight, then I agree, but ***s sake, that was 7 years ago.

Manny's resume' since he became "special" in 2008, is cherry-picked, to put it politely.

And no, I'm not a Mayweather fan. Well, I am a fan of his when he is in the ring, but I do not think that he is that much better. He's definitely better than Pacquiao - who has waay too many questions marks hanging over his career - but he is not ATG because of a lack of defining fights.

No as much as marquez deserves another crack at pac I dont wanna see him get KTFO theres no way a 3rd Fight would be just as competitve as the other 2 all though I do believe he deserved it more then mosley

If their gonna hand-pick another oppenent atleast pick someone young for instance if the pac-may fight cant get done next then pick an easy fight like that canelo kid he can bring some $ to the table and its an easy fight for poochie... let berto collect the other two belts then have a berto-pac fight then once its all done I believe a mayweather fight might be on the horizon

No, Marquez definitely deserves a crack, even if for no other reason than the history between the two. And at least he is coming off a win. But I doubt that Marquez could be effective above 135 against the "new" and "improved" Manny. Clearly that fight should never have been mentioned at 147.

* a distinct advantage - Margarito (don't tell me a 160+ fighter has no advantage on 140+ fighter)

Cotto was not prime, or anywhere near prime, and nor was Hatton.

Cotto got savagely beat down by cheato, you know nothing about boxing if you can't see what that took out of him. After Jennings then Clottey, EVERYBODY was saying that Cotto was shot !!

What, Cotto was prime because he beat a one-legged feather-fisted fighter in Yuri Foreman? ..... Oh, please.

Cotto was faded, shop-worn, had just been battered by cheato/Clottey, he had no trainer, he was clearly not on top of his game - and only an idiot would suggest otherwise - and he most definitely WAS NOT in his prime.

Hatton was the same. He had struggled in his previous fights, he looked faded, shop-worn, and he just had his clock cleaned by Mayweather. He also had no trainer - well, he had two, but neither were in a position to help him - and he most definitely WAS NOT in his prime.

BTW, Cotto and Hatton are not great fighters. Cotto is a terrific fighter, a local legend, and one of my personal favorites..... but neither are great.

Your problem is this.....

Manny may be the best fighter from your country, and he may be a congressman, and he may very well be your favorite fighter..... but none of those things qualify him for ATG status.

Inside the ring..... the cupboard looks pretty bare from where I'm sitting.
