    There are few (very few) people who have driven revenues and profits for TWI.
    Manny, Oscar , Vargas, Tito, Floyd , etc. The guys who were essentially homegrown and transitioned to PPV stars.

    That is how it works. You are essentially an expense until you start generating PPV sales and revenue for the affiliates. In the case of Gatti, he had exactly one PPV event - the fight with Floyd that sold about 370K.

    SHO does a FAR superior job in putting on great fights economically.

    Keep in mind how many incremental subscribers you would have to add (on a base of about 36 million) to pay for boxing.

    ...and the guys who watch boxing had bought HBO for the Sopranos anyway...so you can only add REAL incrementality.
    all u asked me was how butts in seats can cause more return on investment ... and all im saying is that seeing a crowd into a fight will get the viewers at home more into a fight. therefore mroe likely to create a fan of our sport therefor continue to watch subscribe and buy ppv's

      It's funny how half the time, you guys justify fights on "economics" when it suits your argument or you like a certain fighter.

      And then when you don't like a fighter, fights should be made on competitive appeal.
      Gatti already had 2 fights of the year, and had been in mostly competitive fights. I don't care about the economics except for when one guy clearly doesn't deserve it.

      Like berto or Mayweather jr.

        gatti = exciting to watch.

        berto = boring to watch.

        that's why HBO pays for gatti. HBO pays for berto because they got scammed by Al Haymon.

          And that is the selectivity that tweaks me.

          So Marquez is in B2B fights of the year. What economic concessions is Top Rank making for that?

            Barrera was in FOTY's also. but at leasty those were high skill level.

            And, BTW, MAB helped sell several PPV's that brought revenues to HBO.

            Consider me a champion of equality.

                  I'm giving an example.

                  Marquez is in B2B FOTY's and is one of the more exciting fighters around...right? But when it comes to Pac's next fight, the 'competitive appeal' or 'excitement factor' goes out the window. And they will fight Shane b/c they think Shane brings more $.

                  But I at least respect that you admit that you don't apply your criteria consistently.
