Was Shane Mosley old? Yes (as he was for the Margarito fight).

    Was Shane Mosley inactive? Yes.

Was he considered the best fighter at welter? Yes.

Was he considered one of the best fighters in the world? Yes.

Was he the biggest challenge in the division not named Manny? Yes.

Was he avoided by Team Pacquiao? Yes.

Was he perceived to be someone Floyd didn't want to fight? Yes.

Did he get his ass royally cut? Yes.

So take from that what you will. You think it's only a "decent" win? Good for you. I tend to think it meant a lot more.
When did Floyd beat Shane? when he was 38, when he was coming off a 15 month layoff, 2 years after Shane struggled with Mayorga, 3 years after Shane lost to Cotto, 4 years after struggling against Vargas in the first fight, 6 years after dropping back to back losses to Winky, 7 years after struggling against Oscar, 8 years after dropping back to back losses to Vernon Forrest. Mosley is still a top 5 WW and the most dangerous fight for Pac at WW not named Berto or Floyd, Pac is also viewed to have ducked Mosley it doesnt make the fight anymore legit.

So you don't acknowledge that the loss to Floyd could have had any effect on him whatsoever?

Then he goes on to get destroyed by Mayweather.

Then goes on to get embarassed by Mora.

Now all of sudden Pac steps up and wants to fight him? You seriously have to be kidding me.
He was out boxed by Floyd you make it sound much worse than it actually was and he clearly won the Mora fight.

        No problem with Pac/SSM.

Considering he looked the same against Mora, that he did in rounds 2-12 against Floyd... I'd say that is 2010 Mosley.

It's not like he just got the Margarito - Pac treatment.

He was outboxed.... not beaten to death.

You keep bringing up years but this is boxing. Sergio Martinez is 36, Bernard Hopkins is 46. Juan Manuel Marquez...etc. In the meantime, Fernando Vargas went from being a top ten pound for pounder to being washed up all in his 20's. Mosley was 38...and considered the best fighter in the division, the biggest threat in the division and one of the best fighters pound for pound. Take from that what you will.

ALL.... BASED.... on a fight..... that happened 15..... MONTHS ago.

Surely his WW ranking and P4P ranking was severely inflated from his realistic in-ring ability 15 months later.

You can say Floyd had one fight in 3 years.

But he did have a fight just the previous September.

In September, Floyds inactivity came to an end.

He had a fight... a fight he didn't lose a single round in.

EVERYTHING about Mosley, was based off something 15 MONTHS ago.

                  His p4p ranking.

                  His welterweight ranking

                  His "threat" as a fighter

Everything was based off of a fight that happened 15 months prior.

It is not that far fetched to see that Mosleys realistic in-ring ability was not on par with how highly he was ranked.
I don't disagree. So I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. But your premise wasn't the general perception beforehand. Which is why...more important than who is when. You're not saying anything I don't disagree with.

Yeah, that's usually what happens when you destroy someone who might have been severely inflated himself because he also beat another guy who was severely inflated who also...yeah, you get the point.

I am saying he was NOT the fighter that his ranking suggested.

It's like saying this guy is richer than that guy, based off of his financial statements from a year and a half ago.

Realistically.... he isn't that rich today.
