Yes Martinez at this stage in his career if he pulled a De La Hoya and attempted to move down to 147 he would certainly not be favored to win as he would most likely be very drained as was Hoya. The 154 Hoya that (IMO beat) fought Mayweather beats Pac. My point is Pac's being exposed on his cherry picking by moving up to 154 facing a Margarito and then saying Martinez is "too big" etc etc. My point, Pac moved up and "won" Martinez's old title. What's the problem.
I have it
Martinez>Mayweather>Pac at 154
Mayweather>Pac>Martinez at 147
Mayweather>Pac at 147-154
styles make fights and all three fighting each other would be great to see.
If Pac doesn't want to fight at 154 now, fine but that's ducking in my books. Just like ducking Mosley when he was #1 and coming off a KO victory. There is a trend. You're correct if you say the trend is either Pac avoids fighters that are coming off serious wins or a trend of Pac "picking" exposed fighters to face. Eitherway Martinez is validating the point, let alone Mosley and Mayweather.
Anyway I almost feel about the same way as you do. I feel both Mayweather and Pac have a really really good chance at beating Martinez at 147 because he would be "de la Hoya'ed" but at 154 he takes both. Mayweather takes Pac to school from 147-154.
I'm a big fan of Pac's just a BIG disappointed fan in Pac. I take my hat off for the Cotto fight because I picked Cotto to win but since JMM II and Cotto. Its been shyt and it seems to be getting worse with Mosley and JMM at 147 talks..
Seems like Pac is doing what everyone bashed Mayweather for doing when he "moved up" to 147 (no catchweight). Only problem is Mayweather actually beat 2 out of the TOP 3 guys at WW right from the start to become #1 WW and #1 P4P and then fought Hoya at HIS weight (154, no catch) and HIS advantages (glove size, ring size etc). Pac's not even doing that......
