The object is to win. Not to see how much punishment you can take. You can praise Margarito for standing up to a beating. But I'm sure that wasn't his goal. Other than that he showed almost nothing. I'm sure he would take a victory over what he took any day. Most already know he has a great chin.

He tried to win to the bitter end. He deserves praise for showing the never give in attitude that makes this sport and its combatants so great.

That's not quitting. He had a fractured orbital bone. If Garcia stops that fight, he would have been in the right.

Tony has balls, no doubt. But that could have been his career.

Unlike Jotto he wouldn't have had a career if he quit....Especially after he promised he wouldn't quit.
Jotto can quit 4 out of 5 fights and he'll still have a fanbase.

Yes he did try and I give him credit for that. But there is no glory in allowing a man to take that much punishment. His future should be more important than that. Especially after it was clear he had no chnace of winning.

I'm not saying that those outside of the ring (and the ref) should not have stopped it, they should have, but for him to refuse to give in like that in the face of that kind of beating was a super-human effort.

Cheating and everything aside...he does deserve credit for not only taking all that punishment...but you could see that he really wanted to still fight and at least somewhat try to win even nearly til the bitter end. Through a frightening amount of punishment. I still like Cotto more but after like round 6 or 7 vs Pac, he backpedal'd away so hard like Pac was the devil which is somewhat of a comparison of the chins/toughness of both. Not that I actually blame Cotto because he did give it his all and the fight was just taken from him early-mid that fight...given what he is.
