Absolutely! The ref is going to be crucial, and it's a crap shoot for a good one these days. But, please please please don't let it be Joe Cortez! I'd say Jay Nady would be a descent one.
Also, about the jab... Maidanas is descent, but if Kahn is throwing his like he should be all night, I think that's going to be one of the biggest obsticles for Chino to get around in the fight. So much so that he may abandon his own jab all together. I'm afraid if Maidana falls behind in the scorecards that he may be reduced to following Kahn around the ring all night hoping to get in that one big haymaker.

I hope Maidana is just saying this for media sake, because if he's not he's playing right into Freddi Roaches plans.

Another thing to note is that it's even harder for him to land this shot due to both their styles. Anyone who has watched Maidana knows he throws big looping shots, and anyone who has watched Khan recently knows his shots go straight down the middle.

This is the main reason why i don't fancy Maidana's chances because Khan will see his punches from a mile off he needs to throw his punches straighter. Khan will always be the one to get his punches off first.

Maidana needs to control the pace and keep amir of balance. Maidana should cut of the ring and try and corner amir either on the ropes or in the corner where maidana can unload some bombs on amirs chin. The key is making amir fight at maidana pace and effectivly controlling the distance. It will be a very very hard fight for both fighters but one i am looking forward for.
Great post. Maidana does have a tendency to make his opponent fight his fight. For example, the Ortiz fight. There's no doubt Ortiz could have outboxed him for 12 rounds, but he got drawn into exchanging with Maidana and payed the ultimate price.

Also the post by Romebyko on page 2 about Maidana is true. He does punch a lot in the clinch. He did it a lot vs Ortiz and Corley. He wont let Khan get away with clinching so easily. I've also noticed Maidana hits a lot on the break and behind the head as well.

again your right..I would like to see weeks or the lil Spanish guy who ref Mosley Marga's I hate Joe Cortez now anyway he use to be a lil better...But Maidana has to have a plan b cause Roach like him or not is a world class trainer, unlike Cunningham(Sorry had to just land that jab lol)..

yeah, thats what im going to wonder if during on the break is going to try to go for quickshots. But what im more intersted in if this fight does actually turn into a bloody mess. how is khan and maidana going to with fight cuts. Because i can see maidana losing by tko due to cuts.

He is going to lose relying on that 1 punch. He should focus on the body to slow him down.

If/when Maidana punches it will be in combination not just a single shot..Maybe Khan see's the first but not the second..

i acually agree with him, i honestly think that if he hits khan, he's out, obviously there will be a time where maidana will land at least a couple on him, khan better run

Yup this is also why fighters tend to fight his fight as well..Becuase he punches on the break hit's behind the head and overall just tries to hurt ya..When a fighter is hurt he has two gears come forward or clinch..I believe Khan is a fighter he will try to exchange with Maidana(unless Roach trained it out of him)..I like Maidana in this fight but he is going to need more then one punch IMO Khan is better then that..
