Comments Thread For: Maidana Expects Khan To Run: "All I Need is One Punch"

WBA interim-junior welterweight champion Marcos Maidana is expecting the full champion, Amir Khan, to stay on the move at all times when they step in the ring on December 11 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Maidana is working on several strategies in the fight, including the use of body punches to slow down the quicker man.

Isn't that the obvious, the guys chin isn't exactly made out of bone. It's like someone pulled a cruel prank on Khan and gave him all the talent in the world to be a great boxer but then gave him a glass chin to boot...

I expect Amir to box not "run"

I also expect Khan to only need one punch also.

Well it is true that he needs one punch, but Khan will hurt him all night.

I hope maidana doesnt go in there with the intention of head hunting and just relying on his power. If thats the case then amir will walk all over him and box his head off for all 12 rounds.

Maidana needs to control the pace and keep amir of balance. Maidana should cut of the ring and try and corner amir either on the ropes or in the corner where maidana can unload some bombs on amirs chin. The key is making amir fight at maidana pace and effectivly controlling the distance. It will be a very very hard fight for both fighters but one i am looking forward for.

I agree with poster above me, the only way Maidana will come anywheres near that chin is if he lands good bodyshots to tire out Khan.

If boxing was that simple why is Maidana not an undisputed champion by now. If he thinks it's just one punch that will end Khan then i think he is mistaken. I don't think Khan's chin is as shaky as it was at Lightweight and he's a lot better at protecting it now. Maidana may land some good punches but he has his work cut out to land a perfect flush shot on Khan.

Good strategy. Want to do a "One Punch" thing? Better watch Juanma vs Conception because you might be following Conception's footsteps.
