How was Manny Pacquaio able to take Cotto's punches?

People don't understand how much conditioning can help you be able to take punches. If anyone gets connected on the chin by a punch they don't see coming, they go to sleep either way. But if you're seeing the punches coming, you'll be able to absorb most of the shots well through your conditioning.
That said, Pacquiao admitted he got hurt at some point in the fight and was able to hide it.

Pacquiao was on quote to say Cotto really hurt. But he ****** it up and continued and broke Cotto down. Had Cotto boxed smarter and continued to pick Pacquiao here and there im sure Cotto would have Koed Pac. But Cotto was in there looking to trade againest a faster fighter who caught him.

Same thing in the Clottey fight, he came out bruised yet was not deterred by Joshua's punches.
That's one sturdy chin but I still don't get how he's able to "walk through" such punches, get bruised all over yet still not be deterred from fighting on.
and Khan looked like he was in war after Malignaggi fight and Malignaggi hit him like what 10 times?

Well if the behind the scenes rumors are true and Cotto could not rehydrate past a specified amount, I'd say that Cotto was not physically 100% making his power substantially weaker. But then again, with the Mayweather/Pac fight being so drawn out over random drug tests, one has to at least ponder if Pac was on the artificial tip.
