I think Mayweather would have his hands full with Kid Gavilan. These were big welterweights we're talking about, each almost 6 feet tall.
Wonder what you think about this. When I watch footage of Gvailan he looks just like Shane Mosley. Or am I tripping?

Floyd Mayweather, Jr could not hold a candle to Sugar Ray RObinson. He will shut this guy's mouth in the ring. it's funny to even compare him to the great Robinson.

After what we witnessed saturday and since we know Pacman has been ko'ed before, both Pacquiao and Floyd get KTFO by SRR

Come on now, both Pacquiao and Floyd are blown-up featherweight and super featherweight.
ray robinson fought at featherweight also when he was 19.about the same age as floyd was.he fought in the golden gloves as a feather and his 1st 8 or 9 fights were at featherweight

Floyd would not make it to rd 8 with a prime Robinson

Fighters get better with each era. Better eating habits, better training and so on. Its not fair to compare the past to the present.

Robbinson is too big. One BIG WW. Floyd's the smallest one next to Pacquiao.

I think Gavilan was a better boxer although he wasn't afraid to stand and trade. Gavilan was a very good ring general who worked behind a steady jab although he would occasionally brawl, relying on his handspeed and ability to take a punch. There was more pressure on fighters to be exciting then, otherwise they wouldn't get the big fights.

Not all of Gavilan's best fights are on youtube but these are worth a watch:
