Calzaghe hasn't faced opposition on a level like Dawson or Bute in his prime what makes you think he would come back to win.
Calzaghe dodged Dawson before he ain't gonna fight him now.
First off, I believe that Hopkins 43 years old beats Dawson. I believe that the old Hopkins (probably not anymore) was one of the most slick boxers of all time. It was 3 american judges, no excuse.

Yes Calzaghe avoided a Dawson match, but we don't know if he dodged it. Could be that he just wanted to retire by beating Roy Jones Jr. even though a win over Dawson had cemented his legacy completely.
I think there's a fair chance that he can come back and beat Dawson, but I think Bute will beat him unfortunatly - But depends if Bute can go 12 rounds, because against Andrade he couldn't. Calzaghe stacks rounds like no other.

All this is based on Calzaghe's inactivity, before he retired, todays Bute vs. former Calzaghe would be one sweet match, I could see it go both ways.

    (Joe won't come back.)

Calzaghe will avoid Dawson more than he'll avoid news of the world reporters...

Calzaghe retired in early 2009, and since then he's been battered in the press over his wild post-retirement lifestyle, which includes recreational use of *******. [Click Here To Read More]
******* is an hell of a drug... Fight Dawson but he better clean that nose first. I'd hat to see an out of shape Calzaghe, that will only generate more excuses. Remember kids, ******* is an hell of a drug!

How the hell will they make a movie about him or even pretend he's an ATG if he doesn't have an 0? Not a good resume, if he loses his 0 he won't be able to delude even the casual boxrec fan who doesn't bother to see him fight (badly) and goes with what the 0 tells them.

Hates a strong word... but anyway

You admit he avoided a dawson matchup - but don't know if he dodged it???... whats the difference - I'm just curious?

Then you go on to say it would of cemented his career, but in a previous post you claim dawson is not slick enough for calzaghe so if your notion is right why would he dodge (oops sorry) avoid him????

End of the day.... Calzaghe went up to light heavy got a debatable gift against hopkins... then cashed out on a RJ fight... Didnt want anything of a Dawson or even a Johnson matchup. Dodged or avoided which ever way you wanna put it...

Dont take this as me flaming you, just dont understand how you make out that Dawson isn't slick enough for Calzaghe @ Light Heavy..

How many fighters have taken ******* and come back the same as they left, both Pea & Leonard were shell's of their former-selves when they returned.
