Pavlik is to blame not the cut man. if he had better head movement, and didnt stand straight infront of sergio all night, he might have had better results. You have to give it to sergio for fighting a great fight though. I'm interested to see if pavlik can learn from this and do better in the rematch. I also didnt like how his corner gave him encouragement instead of advice. but thats for a different thread

All of these people constantly complaining about how cuts cost them fights or quitting during fights because they are cut is only making Miguel Cotto look like a much tougher guy than alot of his haters around here give him credit for. Cotto had a massive gash over his eye and when he went back and sat on the stool he smiled and sort of stuck out his tongue, finished the fight, and won...never saying a word about the horrific gash the whole time. This is like the 6-7th time in the past year or so that I have seen bad cuts being blamed for a fighter losing or quitting. Shutup and fight.

I'd say Pavliks inability to get out of the damn way had a little something to do with it..

i disagree with this too. pavlik was actually leading in the fight before martinez opened up that second cut. it seemed like he was getting more comfortable in there, he was able to cut off the ring more effectively, and he was able to time martinez when he darted in and out, and land some nice shots. i actually thought pavlik was in good position, but all credit should go to martinez for throwing the good shots that opened the cuts.

I honestly think a rematch would be closer. But I'd still pick Sergio by majority decision.

I think a rematch can go either way just like the first fight, I just don't want to hear these bull**** excuses. Martinez was underrated before this fight, I underrated him and many others but now he has gotten his respect.

But I think Pavlik is a bit underrated now even if he was a cry-baby after losing to BHOP. Excuses aside, other fighters have lost their 0's and didn't try to use triangle theories to why they should have won...
