Call me crazy but I think Floyd's plan is to stay close. I don't think he wants to give Shane too much distance to operate. He'll either keep it phone booth or will be far away lol. Floyd won't jab with Shane - he won't. My guess is that he's going to have to get Shane's respect EARLY or it could get very rough in there.
What is going on in this thread?
Floyds skills are being 110% underrated, and Shane's abilities are being over hyped to no end.
Have we really forgotten about Shane being outboxed by Cotto TWO YEARS ago?
A terrible performance against an old Mayorga?
I mean, really?
Is everyone here somehow fooled into thinking Shane knocking punching bag Margaritos head off is going to somehow, someway relate in the ring with Mayweather?
Not too mention that fight was 15 months ago, and Shane is headed towards 39.
Seriously, wtf.

This "no jab" thing is so overblown. And false. Shane Mosley beat Oscar De La Hoya the first time with his jab. Just because he doesn't use it in a conventional manner doesn't mean he doesn't throw one. Yes, he fires four or five pawing jabs in a row but he always mixes a stiff, hard one somewhere in between. And that can really throw an opponent off. Then trying to figure out when he's throwing the right behind it; or maybe feints the jab and fires that quick lead left hook. Man, Shane Mosley is not a game in the ring.
My Problem with Mosley's jab is the flicking, Against someone like Mayweather he would need to stick the jab instead of flicking it, I think a Good jab (Ike Quartey or V.Forrest RIP) would stop and undo Mayweather's gameplan but like you said i myself might be wrong and the more reason why i cant wait for the fight on the 2nd of May.

I don't think anyone is underrating Floyd - if anything people are underrating Shane. Shane wasn't exactly outboxed by Cotto. As I've stated - the people who were able to beat Shane (Forrest, Wright and Cotto) all had boxing skills AND the ability to stand their ground with him on the inside and even force him back. You need the kind of strength Shane will respect. Floyd Mayweather has never had to do that at welter. Never.
Second, the performance against Mayorga is really being overblown. Mosley sucks at 154. Save for the Vargas rematch, he's never looked good there. Hell, he didn't look good for the 2.5 rounds he fought against Raul Marquez at 154. But at 147, it's another story. Pop in a tape of the Collazo fight when you get a chance. Very telling. Again, I think Shane is the one being underrated.

This guy can make you miss and make you pay standing 6 inches in front of you.
Nonetheless.
Miguel Cotto.
Was standing in the center of the ring with Shane a lot.
And landing clean jabs, right hands, and combinations on Shane.
Why?
Because Shane doesn't use his legs he used to, and he doesn't move his head anymore.
Floyd is faster, more precise, and has a better ability to slip your counter after he shoots than Cotto.
Am I to believe that Cotto can get in range on Mosley, but Floyd cannot?
2 Years later, after 15 months of inactivity?

Floyd will see all of Shanes punches before he throws them and will counter with beautiful 8 punch combo's. Floyd is such a master that he is able to turn it up to unspeakable work rate levels (even though he hasn't done so in almost 10 years) that he will tire Shane out and outfight him along the way. Shane's experience and style will play right into Floyd's natural advantages. Shane tires out easily and can barely last 10 rounds.
Shane's physical advantages mean nothing against Floyd because Floyd is such an amazing talent in the ring, that there is no physical advantage that he cannot overcome with his mastery of timing and footwork.
Because Floyd figured out every fighter he ever fought, he most certainly will do so against a combination of Shane/Naz, and Bhop. Shane will be unable to do anything new in the ring or adjust to anything Floyd does because the trainers do not fight the fights, fighters do. Floyd's next opponent better be Jesus with God as his trainer because that's the only person who can figure out what Floyd's weakness may be.
Floyd will out jab Shane all day. See the fight with Vernon and Winky. These guys killed Shane with the jab and they are nowhere near as talented as Floyd. Shane also throws wide loping punches. Everything he does is telegraphed. It's a miracle that he has beat a prime DLH, but he hasn't beaten anyone else and has never faced anoyone like Floyd. It doesn'ty matter than Floyd hasn't faced anyone like Shane. It only matters that Shane has never fought anyone like Floyd.
If Shane tries to pressure Floyd and make him fight, or if Shane tries to box Floyd, he will get destroyed.

Miguel Cotto has balls - not saying Floyd doesn't but Cotto is willing to take a shot to give one. Floyd isn't. And like I said, Cotto's unnatural strength helped. As far as inactivity...I think Floyd should be worried about rust more than Shane.
