Comments Thread For: Tomasz Adamek vs. Chris Arreola: The War on April 24

By Keith Idec - Tomasz Adamek took a close look at Cristobal Arreola on Dec. 5 in Atlantic City, where Arreola annihilated an overmatched-but-brave Brian Minto.

Adamek left Boardwalk Hall that night certain he can beat Arreola, despite the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Arreola’s size and strength advantages over the 6-1, 220-pound Adamek.

Nothing that occurred Feb. 6 at Prudential Center in Newark has changed his mind.

Adamek (40-1, 27 KOs) barely beat a smaller, lighter-punching Jason Estrada two weeks ago, but he happily accepted an April 24 fight against Arreola (28-1, 25 KOs) at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.

The 12-round fight, which will be the main event of an HBO “Boxing After Dark” telecast, was officially announced during a press conference there Friday.

“He’s a strong guy and a good boxer,” Adamek said, “but I believe in my technique, I have a good chin and I have speed.”

The Polish-born, New Jersey-based Adamek’s chin and heart are unquestionable, but there is a large faction of fight fans and media members that don’t believe he’ll be able to withstand Arreola’s power. Estrada even questioned Adamek’s decision to challenge Arreola after their 12-round battle resulted in a unanimous decision win for Adamek. [Click Here To Read More]

I feel sorry 4 Adamek. He's gonna get knocked the **** out. Areola aint **** but this Adamek dude doesn't even belong in the Heavyweight division.

I'm not sure... I don't write him off yet... Adamek is technically sound. If he can avoid the big punches, I believe this fight is very winnable. I pick Adamek. We'll see in this fight if he belongs in the HW division or not. It is a true test. At least he has the balls to fight the right guys to get a title shot quick.

I think Arreola will be too much for Ademek but never count Ademek out.

I'm pumped for this fight, It will be a big test for both guys and especially Ademek to see if he really belongs at HW.

I also think Arreola will overwhelm Adamek even though he is a fatass who makes the sport look bad every time we see his manhooters.

I don't think Ademek has enough pop to seriously hurt Arreola and make him be cautious. He took a lot of hooks and straights from Vitali and kept coming and for a man that's out of shape, he has great stamina. I don't see Ademek out-boxing him without getting wet, I hope Ademek pulls it off but I just don't see it happening against Arreola.

I do agree with him making the sport look bad but this is how HW's are these days(minus the Klitschko's and a few exceptions) I miss the old HW's when they were 215-225 and ripped.

Arreola is surely better than Jason & I wasn't that overly impressed with Tomasz's performance against him. That's why I am going for Arreola as I think he can hurt Adamek, though if Tomasz is at his best and Arreola puts in a lazy performance Adamek could win on points.
