    Am I the Only One Who Thinks Gus Johnson Is Not Right For Boxing?

    When I hear this guy I can't help but think MMA. He's perfect for mixed martial arts commentating where they explode and cut each other off every 5 seconds whenever a guy lands a haymaker. His lack of boxing knowledge comes through every-time he opens his mouth. I know he's supposed to be more of the play by play guy, but even at that he isn't right for boxing. I'm no man to knock somebody's hustle but this guy has other options as does Showtime. They can have the guys from Shobox come over, or maybe get Jim Brown in there. He works for Showtime now, and I've heard him call fights in the past, and he does a really good job commentating boxing;much better than Johnson. I'm just venting, what are your thoughts?

    i think gus johnson is a great punch by punch commentater he can make a fight alot better then it would be.his boxing knowledge mightnt be the greatest but thats what al bernstein and steve farhood are there for

      Yeah, he sucks. Though he sounds like he should be calling a NCAA basketball or football. He seems perfect for that.

      To be honest, I always like Steve Albert. I wish they'd bring him back full time.

        hes the worst boxing comm i've ever heard ... hes beyond terrible and i am just hoping the sho execs come to there senses quickly about him.

        bring steve albert back!!!! he may not be great with the drama, but at least he knows what the **** hes talking about

          He got real excited in the first 3 rounds of the valero/demarco fight when demarco landed 4 of his 10 jabs in the fight

            Steve Albert was pretty good, much better than Johnson.

              Yeah, I noticed that too. It's funny how he was pulling De Marcos **** all the way up until the point he quit. He kept insisting that DeMarco was "luring Valero in" and that at any moment DeMarco would "take over". At first a lot of people thought that, but by the 4th round when DeMarco was eating punches like skittles, it was fairly obvious as to what was happening. Gus didn't see it that way... Perfect example. He should just stick to the play by play, which he really isn't good at either.

                I agree he definitely lacks boxing knowledge. Hes good doing mma or BB.

                    even his mma comm is pretty bad imo ... but at least his bull**** drama works alittle better with that sport ...
