The guy just lost at about 5 AM in the morn. That's about 13 hours ago here in NYC. I have seen more hate threads on Jones than appreciation threads. It's messed up to kick a man while he's down, but it's even more messed up when he got ktfo in 1 round and we all know he's not getting back up and still kick him.

He also duckt mcclellan and julian jackson.

I love Roy but its obvious he was a safety first fighter, you can say what ever you want but jones was the USA version of Calzaghe

          For sure

I was being a bit pedantic there TheGreatA sorry about that

I can't find the video but you're a regular on this site, you should have seen them several times by now.
He meant that he would fight him anywhere that's why he said he'll fight him in his backyard before it. I posted a interview a few weeks ago and Roy said that Don King was the reason the fight didn't happen. You say Roy offered them fights but they turned them down? The only person that said that is Roy, he isn't going to admit to avoiding them is he? If he really wanted to fight theses guys he should have called them out publicly so everyone knows he tried to make the fights happen.

I can say the same about Calzaghe.

Seriously. Jones was the man back in his day and he deserves a lot more respect than this. I mean the thread starter obviously put some effort and research on this just to bash Jones. Jones never had the top quality opponents that De la Hoya had or guys like Mayweather and Pacquiao have nowadays and now his resume suffers for it. Honestly, how much would those fighters that Jones allegedly ducked add to his legacy? A little more, but Jones would be just as loved, and hated as well.

                  Calzaghe did avoid the best.

He was then given the title back by the WBC despite Rocchigiani having won the vacant title during the time Jones spent talking about how he was going to fight Tyson, Holyfield or Rahman, with none of those fights actually happening.

Rocchigiani sued WBC and got millions for it.
Jones didn't vacate anything he has never won the vacant WBC belt.

I don't know the story you're telling me but I trust you.

Let me ask you 2 questions about Nunn and Rocchiagiani.

I live in Europe and in this forum the 98% of the boxer from Europe are eurobums. Why Rocchiaggiani now is the new "oh-my-god-Jones-ducked-him"? Rocchiagiani is no better then Zsolt Erdei, come on. If you want to choose someone tough just choose Henry Maske or Darius impossible-surname.

Michael Nunn was the number 1 contender. At 36. Now tell me why McCallum in Jones' record was shot and Nunn was the ducked

Roy Jones vacated his WBC LHW title after the second Montell Griffin bout where he had won it. It took him almost a year to contemplate the decision to move up to heavyweights, and he decided to come back down to fight Virgil Hill in a non-title bout at a catchweight of 177 pounds. WBC then decided to give Jones his title back and Rocchigiani was left without a title even though he had beaten Michael Nunn for the vacant title.

Sure Rocchigiani wasn't great but he deserved to keep his title belt which he had won legit. Instead it was stripped off of him in favour of Jones who had already vacated the title.
