when floyd moved up to 147 he fought mitchell as a tuneup for judah. he then fought judah and baldy who were the best at WW than... other than margacheato there was no one else... i repeat no one else!!! he then landed the mega fight with oscar and then followed by hatton which were the two biggest fights out there for him... theres no way in hell anyone that is a professional fighter would of chosen cotto and marge over those two fights... can we at least agree upon that?? sure knowing what I know now about hatton and oscar, I would of chosen to see floyd fight cotto and marge but lets face it... they would of been horrible business decisions.... how can u turn down 40 million over lets say at best 20 million to fight the latter? u can't! those two fights made pbf a star with the mainstream... now that he can make a gazillion dollars fighting whoever he wants now being a star... i believe he should and will fight the guys everyone is dying to see him fight. lets just be patient and see what happens after cotton and ******* throw down!
    No, you're entirely wrong.

We've seen tremendous fights in the last 5 years because the fighters wanted to prove themselves against the best possible opposition.

If all the other top tier fighters based their decisions solely on how much money their opponent is worth,

we'd have never seen Rafa Izzy three times, Pac Morales 3 times, Castillo Corrales, Super 6 tourny, etc.

lol you couldn't care about how much they make,

but thats your entire stance in this thread.

    lol, "lets be patient".

Hes been in the division for 5 years and next week

Manny Pac is going to fight Miguel Cotto.

That tells you how great Floyd Mayweather is.

Now go hang up the phone, you've just been RA'd.

those fights never generated the kind of money that floyd makes because they cant pull the millions he could... yes my response is based primarily on money when it came down to oscar and hatton but the opposition wasn't there before floyd fought those guys and the reason we saw those fights while he was retired was because those guys don't have the luxury of sitting around waiting for the best possible fight they r trying to keep their names alive in the sport, it was their best available payday or they were still tryng to better their name out there so they could land bigger fights in the future... its all about money... if u ask any casual fan who the guys u mentioned above were they would not have a friggin clue who they were!! All the big name fighters have been doing what floyd is doing for years... so don't act like it is just something new!!!!

        Nobody cares though.

We, as boxing fans were treated to memorable fights.

and no dip****, all the big name fighters haven't been avoiding the best competition for years,

        they actually fight them.

and yes, the opposition was there, Floyd was just too ***** to prove what he said,

"Margarito, it will be bigger later"
        "Cotto, easy money"
"Shanes a sparring partner, I don't fight sparring partners"

If you're going to be a fan of boxing, at least act like you have a clue.

No...its a case of "Back up your claims of being the best". He wasn't claiming to be the best when he was "Pretty Boy"...he was fighting the best...."Money" is claiming to be the best...without actually fighting the best....

Who else refused to fight someone because they had, "4 losses"?

Who else refused to fight someone unless they "get their PPVs up"?

Who else refused to fight someone because, "hes a sparring partner"?

Oscar De La Hoya fought Steve Forbes,

that fight was worth the most money?

              Joe Calzaghe fought Peter Manfredo,

that fight was worth the most money?

Hopkins and Jones next fights are worth the most money?

lol "when Floyd goes and blah blah blah",

              um,

              he doesn't even fight them.

He prefers bringing men from lower divisions.

So funny to see Floyd fans ***** and complain cause someone tells the truth and puts things into perspective.. get the **** over it.. we all know he hasnt fought REAL welterweight opposition.. He still has time though.. maybe he might suprise me and do something crazy and actually fight someone in his division.. then he can try and earn my respect again.. Floyd under 147 = Beast.. 147 and above - lame..

cotto was a star at that point he was bigger at that time than he is now...he was like the terminator of boxing he was a beast...manny has what cotto had in 07.....i hope he fights welters from now on i used to be a huge mayweather fan
