White hope! That right F$$king White hope!

I'm a real fight fan period! True fans stand up, When Pavlik win the belts,he did it in fashion. The re-match was some bull**** on the real. Why at a catch-weight? Has Kelly Pavlik been a true champion? I'm I been to hard on him?

You've got your timescales completely wrong.

Pavlik wasn't even being considered by Williams when he turned down Clottey. At that time he was in negotiations with Dzindziruk, not Pavlik. HBO put him under pressure to fight Clottey rather than Dzindziruk, but he said no, he would rather fight Dzindziruk. See here.

It was well over a month after that when he started negotiations with Pavlik.

And strategically, fighting Clottey would have made far more sense, in terms of helping him to achieve his stated goals of getting fights at 147 with Mayweather and Mosley. If he'd beaten Clottey, HBO would now be putting serious pressure on both Mayweather and Mosley to fight Williams. Instead, those fighters can simply ask why anyone would expect them to fight a Middleweight. And most people swallow that line, because it's so long since Williams has fought at 147.

Let's say what you are pointing out about Clottey calling out Williams is true. If it is true that Clottey called out Williams, don't you think it's Arum's responsobility to put up some kind of reasonable offer of money for the fight to happen? We saw what Top Rank just did with Caballero. They offered the dude peanuts to keep Lopez away from the guy. Calling someone out and being serious about the challenge is two different things. Arum has always kept his boys away from Paul Williams. The only reason that the Pavlik fight was in motion is because Cameron Dunkin and Todd DeBeoff negotiated for Pavlik. Arum had nothing to do with the negotations.

I'm afraid you cats are dreaming.. I don't see Mayweather fighting Pwill.. too high risk with not enough on the upside.

Would be a good fight though, and maybe he'll surprise me, though I doubt it. He did after all fight a bigger, taller corrales.. this would just be a more extreme version of that, I suppose.

If they did fight, May would make Pwill go down to 147, guaranteed.

If it wasn't a serious challenge, HBO wouldn't have been putting pressure on him to take the fight - but they were. He didn't give money as a reason why he was turning it down, and in view of HBO's preference for the fight and their lack of interest in the Dzindziruk fight, I simply don't believe that he was being offered as much money to fight Dzindziruk as he was to fight Clottey. The only reason he gave for turning it down was the fact that Clottey was coming off a loss.

Sounds like an allright reason to me.

Not if he wants to be taken seriously as an opponent for Mosley and Mayweather. Didn't you read my previous post? I wrote:

And it was a controversial loss, and Clottey is still the #3 ranked Welterweight - he is by far the most highly ranked Welterweight available for him, to get him back into the Welterweight rankings.

Bump for Paul Williams clear ducking of Joshua Clottey. You have to wonder how much longer Williams can keep up with this "most avoided man" crap.More people know of Joshua Clottey than they do Paul Williams.

Dzindziruk is a tougher opponent than Clottey; and an uninjured Pavlik is a far tougher opponent than Clottey. IMO it was in his interests strategically to fight Clottey rather than either of the other two, but to call it a duck is ridiculous.
