Comments Thread For: Decisions loom on mandatories as Oleksandr Usyk-Daniel Dubois II talks progress
With the right steps taken, none of the sanctioning bodies intend to disrupt tentative plans to once again fully unify the heavyweight division.

Still would rather have Usyk-Parker. But the unification is more important in any real, defendable boxing conversation except for maybe the fight prep. Hard for me to see a way an in shape, mentally prepared Usyk doesn't defeat Dubois a second time where as Parker at least is the unknown how his style matches up against Usyk. But the title was awarded (not really earned, which annoys me) to Dubois for dispatching Joshua. In his defense, he has seemed like a new fighter since losing to Usyk. Dubois is a worthy rematch.
Unification always the better choice - but there’s every chance the crooked IBF will strip the winner unless they face a mandatory. So it may be all for nothing
I'd have rather seen some new blood, personally. I give zero credence to Dubois and his low blows. The only reason that narrative exists is haters and people who don't know that the low blow line is defined by the navel, not the belt. Dubois lost every second of that fight that he wasn't punching Usyk low. It's a ****** asterisk that's standing in the way of Usyk ACTUALLY cleaning out the division. Parker and Kabayel are the most deserving contenders to the title. Dubois is an email champ whose only defense was against another guy who'd already lost twice to the real champ. Miller is a cheater who shouldn't have gotten any more opportunities, and Hrgovic hasn't really shown us much. He got a gift win against Zhang, and couldn't even stop a guy who Zhang flattened twice already.
Could still have had unification if Sniffles hadnt shat the bed and hidden under it at the thought of facing Parker.
He could have rescheduled for May, given Parker barely broke a sweat vs Bakole, with the winner facing Usyk in October.
As is, Usyk has quacked his way towards the path of least resistance in choosing the guy he already beat handily and emailed a belt to rather than test himself against the last man standing and legit contender from this era...

Title was earned. He was not given the title for beating AJ. Keep seeing a lot of people mention that. AJ fought the heavyweight champ. Dubois walked to the ring as champ that night. He beat Hrgovic for interim. He was elevated in to full in June when Usyk vacated. At this stage you could call it awarded or email belt. Once he fought and destroyed AJ that made it legit. No1 because he was underdog and a lot of people online inc on here were entertaining the idea that AJ was back on top, would beat Fury, and thought he would beat Dubois then they wanted Usyk trilogy for undisputed. No2 because he beat Hrgovic and AJ who otherwise would have been fighting each other for the vacant IBF
Start of last year that is also what AJ and Hrgovic teams were aiming for, Them 2 fighting for a vacant ibf. IBF were always going to order mando or strip Usyk after the first Fury fight.

Respectfully disagree. He got an email belt from the real champ, who already stopped him, and then his only defense has come vs a guy who lost to the real champ twice in a row. There's only one champion in the heavyweight division, and that's Usyk. IBF has terrible rules and the worst rankings of any of the alphabet organizations. IBF just ordered an eliminator between Frank Sanchez, who already got stopped by underdog Kabayel, and Hrgovic, who already got stopped by Dubois, and Parker is overdue for Usyk. So the winner of this fight will probably get stripped for fighting a more deserving contender rather than one of the guys who's already lost. The IBF title is trash, and Dubois isn't a real champion unless he beats the real champ, who already knocked him out with a jab. I'd have given him more credence if he'd beaten either of Parker or Kabayel who are the only credible contenders right now, but he backed out of the Parker fight.

Thank you. "email champ" is the perfect way to describe it.
