Yeah, I think the narrative on Fisher is a bit misunderstood. I never got the impression anyone was touting him to be the future of the division. Admittedly, I wouldn't be surprised if his blowhard promoter talked some nonsense at some point but that wouldn't mean much.

He was a popular, local kid playing rugby at college and started to spar Joe Joyce and went pro, he brought a significant following to local cards which helped generate ticket sales. He and his family have always been very humble which was part of the appeal.

Part of his problem is that he blew out another fighter who wasn't a contender in Alen Babic. Babic was never any good but he was a popular ticket seller with a padded record. Dave Allen is a shopworn journeyman but he is a competent boxer which is something Fisher had yet to face.

lol yeah but Fisher ain’t that good and Allen has his number now. Weather the storm, counter when he gets tired. If he fights Allen next he’ll get stopped.

He's a ticket seller with a fan friendly style. Not everybody in this game is going to win a world title. Fisher is quite clearly domestic level and thats absolutely fine. 5,000 people from his town will watch him fight and they make an event of it. He'll be looked after and he won't randomly be thrown in with anyone far exceeding the level of an Allen. The likelihood is he won't win a British title but he should be good enough to fight for it.

There is obviously a few British fighters who have some legitimate hype from the British boxing industry why don't you file their names away and wheel out this dogs.hit when they get beat? Not just any Brit anywhere who loses fight that you've seen.

I'll give you a few: Hamza Sheeraz, Adam Aziz, Moses Itauma (he's a good one for you - only 19 so you can be really pathetic revelling in any failure he has).

I just don't know why we still do this crap on here.

Can't you just watch a fight, quickly figure out the level of it, enjoy a competitive fight for what it is?

I'd rather watch a 100 Fisher/Allen fights than a squash match between a prospect and an opponent.
I’ll stop doing it when the Brits stop making these bums “ticket sellers” and causing them to take up spots on undercards where they get gift decisions.

Sheeraz and Itauma are actually good. The jury is still out on Aziz, let’s see.

Yeah maybe this is the issue at the heart of it then.

            Americans don't like boxing.

We certainly don’t like gift British decisions.

What you like doesn't seem to matter.

I’ll still be here talking about it regardless.

But if I was Dad, I wouldn't comment. Why do that? It won't change the outcome and only make your son looks bad, imo, if you say it.

I will say that David Allen used a lot of tricks and pushed the rules a bit for that win. Holding the head with one hand/arm and hitting with the other. Headlock and hit. A few rabbit punches. It wasn't clean, but it was a win.
Definitely excessive rabbit punching. Fisher was holding his lead hand out for extended periods of time too, so he was guilty of some bending of the rules, though not as extreme as the rabbit punching. The ref didn't seem to be interested in enforcing the rules in this fight.

Refs never do with rabbit punching it seems. It is annoying and it's dangerous and nobody wants a fight to turn on the use of rabbit punching.

Not that this one did but it's just cheap, dangerous damage. We need fights thrown out for it really but what ref on a televised card is gonna DQ a fighter for it? The ref is paid peanuts and everyone would be in uproar.
