It is actually very hard to match someone with this level of offensive skills because you want him to go rounds but remember he has only had 9 pro fights, doesn't have huge amatuer experience & is only 19. There is no way I would throw him in with Wallin or Fabio Wardley who are both, arguably top 10 or 15 in the world in only his 10th fight! Equally, he definitely needs to be stepped up. Next fight Ajagba or that Italian guy would be possible, then a bit further on Charles Martin, Jarrell Miller or a last payday for Dillian. If he gets through those he would be ready for Wallin. Fabio can hit like an absolute beast. I have no doubt that in time Itauma will be able to beat Fabio but I wouldn't rush that one.

Is McKean's best win Tai Tuivasa, a 14-8 MMA no-defense brawler who had to have been even more unskilled back in 2016 when McKean beat him?
That being said, I do think Itauma is a bona fide prospect. His boxing IQ and athleticism are obvious and he's flashing this at a very young age. Only time will tell if he will pan out...

That’s proper Tommy Hearns knockout artist type skills there. it was beautifully set up both times and about as far from a simple one two as you can get. Perfect distance, perfect combination for taller fighter and timed to perfection. That’s why those in the know rave about this guy because they see these little things which set him apart.
Here's the fight:
Itauma throws 1-2 at 0:53, at 1:11, at 1:43, and 2:12. It's virtually the same exact combo. McKean was horrible. The way he's holding his hands is ridiculous - they're so high up that he can't generate any power in his punches, and his mid section is wide open. He also reacts to that ridiculous low punch that Itauma throws at 2:11.. I don't think I've ever seen anything that ****** thrown, and I sure as hell never seen someone react to a shot like that before. Any contender would have thrown a counter jab and stopped Itauma in his tracks.
Not saying Itauma is bad, or that he wont be a champ one day. I'm saying that this fight showed me absolutely nothing. Itauma was basic, and it was enough for McKean.

It was a feint towards the chin followed by a lower feint to the middle of the chest. As it was so obviously not a basic 1, 2 in my eyes, naturally the minute someone calls it precisely that it’s clear to me they don’t fully understand what they’re watching. If they did they’d see what I saw. And in terms of credentials I’m a 40 years martial arts instructor and have been watching boxing since Ali’s first fight with Spinks so yeah I guess I have a better understanding than most who comment on here and no it wasn’t a basic 1, 2. We’re allowed to disagree. That’s what forums are for so I’m saying I disagree with you. I’m not saying you know nothing about boxing. I’m saying you don’t understand how well that left hand was set up.
A well set up punch is one you don't expect or don't see coming. To do that, you need to mask it amongst other punches. In this fight against McKean, Itauma threw ZERO hooks and ZERO uppercuts. It was literally probing jab to the body, jab to the head, and few 1-2s. Zero punch variety, zero combinations. Because McKean was awful. His boxing stance is atrocious.
Look at this. I know McKean somehow went 12 against Hrgovic, but who the hell taught this guy to box? He's wide open to everything, he can't generate any power through his hips, and his punches are slower than they should be considering this idiotic stance.
