It's crazy to think what would had happen if the ref waived off Fury for that first Wildier fight. How much the boxing landscape would had been different.

Or if the ref hadn't given Wilder extra time to recover against Ortiz.

That fight was just before Joshua fought Parker to add a third major belt and it seemed at the time like two semi finals for undisputed. We spent the next 6 years basically being one fight away from an undisputed champion.

For me that's the real kick start of this era - the era of excitement and big events but where the undisputed fights didn't happen, finally punctuated by the undisputed fight that did happen.

I find it strange when journalists talk about the new era starting with Fury beating Klitschko. Yes, that signalled the the end of one era, but the division wasn't buzzing until Joshua and Wilder established themselves and then Fury came back to the sport.

The other big sliding doors moment for me is Fury v Wallin. That really should have been stopped. And Fury wasn't yet re-proven on his return.

Overall, the 10 things in a vacuum are fine. But (and nothing before the "but" matters) I am kind of seeing a pattern here.

-The Ruiz upset of Joshua is ranked higher than Usyk's dismantling of Joshua. I would put both in the top 5, but in no way was Ruiz and his hiccup short reign a bigger deal than Usyk proving the first time was no fluke by cementing the win the second time. It led to the first undisputed champion since Lewis. It was a way bigger deal.

-Wilder-Fury was split off into different parts of this list, giving Fury much more acreage. Usyk and his two wins over Joshua were grouped together.

-There was also a nice shot at Usyk by Mr. Pugmire with a nice little "Fury, perhaps in an omen to what we can expect Saturday, completely solved Wilder the second time around." discussing Fury-Wilder #2.

-The undisputed fight was freaking #5.

I mean, this is his list. He is the professional writer, I am a boxing fan on a fan site. But I do get the feeling there is not a ton of respect for one Oleksandr Usyk.

This era wasnt exactly strong on talent but it was pretty good for entertainment value, big fights and star power, much more so than the Wlad era.
