Comments Thread For: The Beltline: Selling two flyweights in a boxing ring is a challenge for any salesman in 2024

In Britain we are being told Sunny Edwards-Galal Yafai is one of the biggest fights of the year, and yet it is tough to figure out exactly how big a fight between flyweights can be in 2024

Fair article. The non-boxing fans people watch boxing to see fighters get knocked out, so if you can't do that at those lower weight-classes like a Inoue, Bam or Nakatani, you won't bring the same enthusiasm..

To be more precise, trying to sell it to American audience on an American forum is the hard part. I see the winner of Edwards/Yafai getting a nice deal to fight Teraji in Japan next on a big Amazon Prime Boxing 11 card by Teiken next spring.

I thought the article interview was good. And agree finding out more about the fighters makes a fight more interesting (and provides more depth than just the pre prepared lines at the press conference table).

In comparison, the shorter click baity articles which just centre around a single sentence quote are terrible. You feel a little conned after clicking through to them - I can’t remember who it was but there was one contributor for Boxingscene who was prolific with that.

edit: Hans, that was his name!!

To be fair , that article was ridiculously long and not particularly interesting. It was one of the rare times that I have been bored and didn't finish the article. I read books constantly and always have. It wasn't just the length , it really wasn't very interesting, at least to me.
The fight is a different story , I'm looking forward to it. It should be a good fight. I'm interested to see how Sunny Edwards is going to fight , is he going to box , or sit and fight like he did with BAM. I've seen Yafai fight a few times , this should be a fight well worth watching. I don't care how little or how much the fighters weigh , generally the smaller guys put on more active fights .
