Comments Thread For: Tommy McCarthy and Colm Murphy pick up wins on ProBox TV in Belfast

BELFAST - Former European cruiserweight champion Tommy McCarthy (21-6, 10 KOs) got back to winning ways with a victory over Ryan Laybourn (0-19-2, 0 KOs) on ProBox TV's first UK show in Belfast. McCarthy seemed happy to bank the rounds after suffering defeat to Chev Clarke earlier this year and never got out of first gear. McCarthy boxed his way to a 60-54 victory.

I respect anyone who has the courage to be a boxer & I respect the choices they make. When you're a former European cruiserweight champion & they put you in with a guy whose record is (0-19-2, 0 KOs) & you box your way to a 60-54 victory, that should be telling you that you need to be doing something else.

Didn't realize Tommy McCarthy was still active. After the 2nd fight with CBS, he fell off the radar and I'm only just noticing he was stopped by Clarke and Cieslak relatively recent.

Tommy's career peak was that upset win over Turchi and he managed to fight CBS on fairly even terms on the first fight.
