BELFAST – Former European cruiserweight champion Tommy McCarthy (21-6, 10 KOs) got back to winning ways with a victory over Ryan Laybourn (0-19-2, 0 KOs) on ProBox TV’s first UK show in Belfast. McCarthy seemed happy to bank the rounds after suffering defeat to Chev Clarke earlier this year and never got out of first gear. McCarthy boxed his way to a 60-54 victory.

Featherweight prospect Colm Murphy (13-0, 4 KOs) took a 60-54 decision over the game Erik Omar Lopez (16-20-2, 10 KOs). Murphy kept the fight at range and used his jab to keep away from the dangerous Lopez who was looking for the knockout throughout.
Featherweight Jack O’Neill, now 2-0 (0 KOs), showed his class against the experienced Steven Maguire (4-50-1, 2 KOs). O’Neill displayed excellent punch variety and seemed to drop Maguire in the third but it was not ruled a knockdown. O’Neill took a 40-36 decision.
Welterweight Gareth Dowling, now 2-0 (1 KO), picked up his second win as a professional against the tough Christia Lopez Flores (14-48-2, 12 KOs). Dowling threw power shots throughout the contest but was unable to finish the experienced Flores and took a 40-36 victory on the scorecards.
Junior lightweight Teo Alin (2-0, 0 KOs) impressed in just his second fight against Joshua Ocampo (8-32-5, 6 KOs) over four rounds. The fan-favorite showed his classy skills and took all four rounds against the tough Ocampo.
