Love him or hate him, Canelo continues to keep casuals talking about the sport or tuning in. They consider it an "event" just because he fights, even if only twice a year. Without the big name, how do these casuals find out who fights anymore? There is no free boxing anymore on tv. You basically need to seek it out and a casual that doesn't know much or care about it, is less likely to seek it out.
We could have had the guy already, or canelo could have been bigger. His lack of balls have made this a little tricky, but in boxing a figure has always emerge and take the Center stage. This is the first time in over 60 years that that I see fans asking this question, that's why I posted earlier. We need better fights and one or two will come out on top.

yes small must be at least twice as good to become a star

Need to whoop ass across multiple weight divisions

lol fat Uck Americans can’t relate to these smaller weight divisions

Fat Uck Americans think they can be 200 pounds of lean muscle if they get fit

when most would be lightweights to middleweights

Benavidez ticks all the boxes to be the next superstar more than anyone else yet for some reason so many try to ignore him. He would have already got there if Canelo had given him the fight but I think he still will eventually. These midgets like Bam have no chance.

To be completely honest I prefer watching featherweight to 175. Fighters >= 5 ft 6

but these small guys are too good in this era
Nobody cares for the midgets and never really have. They need to be a Conor mcgregor X factor to become big stars and those guys do not.

Looking forward to Ben’s next fight

giving both David’s the benefit of the doubt for their meh debuts at 175

most dwarf boxers don’t talk much either. Asians and Mexicans are quiet

I disagree. I think Munguia is very underrated and his resume isn’t all that bad. Of course, time will tell. But as far as saying the ginger route, that’s a HOF route.

Sorry man, but no way is Munguia skillful enough in the way Canelo is to basically jump up and down divisions, winning and become a mega star. Canelo has a lot of attributes that his fellow Mexicans do not. Granted Benavidez is probably one of them. Too bad Canelo won't give him the chance to prove it against him, but Benavidez is carving out his own path. I'm not sure if he'll become mega super star though unless he himself beats a mega star. It's basically a passing of the torch situation that is needed. If Benavidez could get Canelo and beat him, I could see him having a very high chance because the casuals that just follow Canelo will now follow Benavidez.

Please, you know what am talking about. His resume is full of has been and 2nd tier boxers, he is exactly what we think he is, a well managed boxer made to make money(nothing wrong with that) not for legacy, jusy like canelo, no surprise they share a common denominator. The bar has going down so low that a guy that only fight old past their prime fighters, and domestic level boxers while avoiding without a shame his most dangerous opponents is considered great.

David Benavidez needs the canelo fight to become that. And he has to win the canelo fight.

Shakur needs a dominant performance over tank to become that. Can't be a boring ud. Has to be a omg victory. It doesn't have to be like bud vs spence...but it has to be something like hopkins vs tito to make Shakur take over

Boots needs a knockout win over Crawford to become that.

Only 3 in my opinion who could be next. But without those fights it's not possible

Shakur had his chance to control his fate to become a star but he rejected it due to his own dumbness. When the unpopular but undisputed Haney offered him the 25% he should've jumped on it, eff the money.

Undisputed champion Shakur would've gotten Loma (one last attempt to go undisputed himself) and likely Tank (he was the regular beltholder so he could've called Tank out and get his name known) which would've easily multiplied the money he gave up for Haney fight.
