Comments Thread For: Bob Arum: Murodjon Akhmadaliev would cost himself by forcing Naoya Inoue to vacate

Naoya Inoue's co-promoter says that Murodjon Akhmadaliev would be cutting off his nose to spite his face if he forces his mandatory shot at the undisputed junior featherweight champion now instead of waiting a little longer.

If he thinks he'd lose and would rather keep his...oh wait, he doesn't have his 0 anymore anyways. Well, maybe he would rather fight for a vacant belt against lesser competition and get to call himself champ again and pretend that Inoue is ducking than actually fight him and find out.

Arum is a you-know-what, but he's not wrong in saying that MJ and his promoter should be starting talks right now to set up the April fight instead of b!tching about not getting to cut the line. In fact given his inactivity he should set up a super easy stay busy fight before the year ends if anything, but seems like he doesn't intend to at this rate. Not Inoue or Top Rank's problem that MJ falsely assumed he'd be first in line of mandatories when in reality both Nery and Goodman won their eliminator well before him:
Nery- WBC eliminator February 2023, stay busy on July 2023, Inoue fight on May 2024 (15 month since becoming WBC mandatory, 10 month since last fight)
Goodman- IBF eliminator July 2023, stay busy Oct23, Dec23, Mar24, July24, Inoue fight on December 2024 (17 month since becoming IBF mandatory, 5 month since last fight)
MJ- December 2023, no fights since then. If Inoue fight is April 2025 that is 16 month since becoming a mandatory, which is exactly in order.

The more I look at it, still wondering why he thought he deserved to be first in line before Nery/Goodman.

I mean given he fought his last fight against Gonzalez for a purse bid that was won by a grand total of $120,000 by Matchroom, maybe he thinks a battle for the vacant belt against the great Ramon Cardenas on an undercard somewhere in UK will get him $150,000 this time.

Pushing for a savage beating. These guys that try to run up on Monster soon learn the folly of their ways.

Heard Inoue is going to fight him early next year on the same card as Nakatani

Blame the WBA. Goodman earned his shot by beating Ra'eese Aleem. MJ hasn't done much since the Tapales robbery.

That would be a great lead-in for the Nakatani fight.

Fr fr. Was hoping Inoues bro would've won his last fight cause he was going to fight Nakatani.

Would've been a great lead in for Naoya vs Nakatani cause Junto would've beat Takuma pretty easily imo

I wouldn't mind seeing Nakatani vs Tsutsumi. But yeah , it would have been a cool storyline with Naoya defending his familys honor by avenging his brothers defeat. Then the loser would have to kneel in the ring , head hanging over a basket , to be decapitated by the winner wielding a Katana.
